Pappou Souvlaki — Restaurant in Montreal

Full disclosure: I love Marathon! With that out of the way, here is my review of my first time ordering from Pappou:

I called in my order for pickup. The person on the phone was easy to understand and carefully took my customized order. On arrival, the appearance of the new restaurant is very open & clean. The staff were very welcoming and my order was ready. I really appreciated how they went over the contents of the order with me and upon discovering a miscommunication in one of the items, they quickly fixed it. The order consisted of Pappou salads, 3 pitas (Vegi/Chicken & Beef gyro) and only fries. The salads were good. While I absolutely love Marathon dressing, this is a good alternative. The lettuce was clean & crisp, and the addition of the peppers is a nice touch to go with the onions, olives, cabbage and feta. The round fries are similar to Marathon. I liked the tzatziki in the pitas but my preference for the meat would still be with Marathon. Next time I would try the chicken stick pita....and there will be a next time as this is a great alternative to Marathon which happens to be closer to home for me. Overall a positive experience.

Since the first review, we have ordered from Pappou many times and it has been one of our go to restaurants. This update is written with anger as I feel totally deceived by their Uber Eats menu. I ordered the meal for 4 special which states that it is pita, salad, fries & rice, and drinks for 4 people. The page is not set to properly submit your order, so you need to fill in the notes field with what you actually want. Having just received my order, not only was it not correct, according to my order specifications, but it came with only 2 salads. I immediately called to say that 2 salads were missing, but was told it only comes with 2 and does not specify that it comes with 4.

I am furious as it is listed as a meal for 4! All of their plates come with salad, so without it being specified as only 2, there is no reason to think it would not come with 4. The description does not even specify that it comes with 4 plates/pita. Aside from this deception, the order notes were not followed: one pita was missing rice, the salads were supposed to have dressing on the side, and the packaging instructions were not followed.

When I called, I was told a note had been placed in the bag to tell me it only comes with 2 salads....furthermore after just finding the hand written note at the bottom of the bag, it states that it is supposed to come with one House & one Greek salad.....again something that is not stated in the description. It is with great pleasure that I stumbled upon this new Greek restaurant in the middle of Sources boulevard. The owner is very eager to please his new customers and is extremely polite, well mannered and talkative. All of the staff were wearing face masks and were following the proper Covid 19 protocols. I ordered a double chicken pita sandwich plate which came with a huge salad and an abundance of circular french fries. The salad was fresh and the salad dressing was awesome. The pieces of chicken in the pitas were marinated to perfection and the pita bread was very soft and easy to chew. The circular french fries were also the perfect texture. My food was still very hot when I brought my order home. The staff is extremely warm and friendly. Even the workers made sure to say goodbye to me when I was leaving the restaurant. If you are looking for a great local restaurant with amazing food, attentive staff and overall a very positive energy/vibe then look no further. Trust me, it is 100 percent worth it!!! (Note: I am not the easiest person to please and I can attest to the fact that they passed my test with flying colours.) I will definitely be back!!! If I could give this restaurant zero stars that is being generous. As many people wrote this is seasoned meat so it is not Greek food . I would consider it more Indian food pretending to be Greek.. First off the two girls working there seem completely lost and unprofessional. When I called to do my order I was not given a number and no one took my name. When I got to the location the girl could not find my order and said well everyone orders gyros. I spoke to over 10 other people who were waiting and they all said the same thing that they were not given a number and no one took their name. Even two people complained and they could not find those customers orders. I was told maximum 25 minutes . my order was ready in over 50 minutes.You can see the chefs cooking which they look completely lost themselves as well. They always will take uber first. When I got home I ate the food which the first pita tasted as if it was dumped in spices. that’s all I tasted over the tzatziki sauce. The second Peter it’s as if they forgot to spice it. The race is boring stale bland rice as are the fries. And the salad had barely any dressing on it as if it was rushed because they were so behind on their orders.
