Never ever go to this place. We are an East Asian family and our first server Andrew was a racist White guy. And their food is VERY overpriced with TINY portion. We made a reservation at 6:30pm and arrived there sharply when he did not greet us at all and decided to start joking with his customer for good 3 mins from the time we entered even though we clearly made an eye contact. His manager therefore came and had us seated. Andrew came over with a water jar shortly after and literally asked, "water?" as he lifted his hand up. He assumed that we don't speak English judging by our apperance and thought we would not notice his impoliteness. I genuinely wonder if he had done the same thing if we were White family (and I think not because our next server made sure if we wanted hot water or cold water) We ordered a bottle of Mencia wine, which was the second choice of their medium body wine list and I read it clearly as my finger was literally pointing at it. However Andrew was kept asking if I wanted Merlot. And Andrew HAD to get us the Merlot wine even though I corrected him twice. He seemed extremely unhappy and bothered when we asked him if we could move our table to somewhere further in since it was -23 degrees outside and we did not want to be freezing at our table which was right in front of the door. Soon after we found out that the reason why he seemed so bother was because we would be assigned to a different server. Well, we were already unpleasant with his service from the very beginning and would of asked for a different server for our main entrees anyway so he should not be upset about it. Andrew who is working in an Asian fusion restaurant at a tourist village must learn to respect his Asian customers because no one is paying $177 and expected to be treated like that (FYI, we tipped our next server 20% because that's what most customers who received the right service...
Read moreFood was decent, although the portions were a small for the price. The main issue came with the server, as he was extremely disrespectful and rude, far beyond what most people would probably even imagine.
Issues included:
After one of us asked him to take the drink cups away, he told him in a serious and irritated voice: “you could’ve said please, you know”. No, we were not rude when we asked him to do so. I originally thought he was joking, because literally no server has ever said that to me before, but his stern face and lack of any follow up comments made it obvious that he wasn’t kidding.
Although most of the food was good, the jasmine rice was undercooked. We told him about it after the meal, and his reaction was “oh, well you SHOULD’VE told me that earlier, when I asked how things were tasting”. He then takes away our dishes, without saying anything else.
When we went to pay (and oh boy did we pay a lot), he added 20% tips to the bill without telling us. Now I’m not sure if this is the restaurants policy for groups of 5+, but even if it is, he did not notify us at all about that. Tips are how we as customers give back for good/bad service, but he instead he essentially tricked us into giving him a fat check for terrible service. Again, we couldn’t check that he added the 20% because we were paying quite a lot already and it wasn’t obvious.
The server wasn’t entirely rude throughout, as he did have basic manners. But every those 3 incidents mean that our experience at this restaurant was an extremely poor one.
TL;DR: imagine your experience like this: your sever is fairly kind except he said “fuck you” a few times out of the blue. You’re more bewildered than offended at his actions, simply due to the sheer audacity of his willingness to be rude to customers. Then he tips...
Read moreThis place is highly overrated. The food itself is more in line with 3 and half star.... If you can through their menu without alteration.
Their kids menu is limited, and if your kid is a bit fussy you might want to review the menu in advance. For us, we asked if they could make our guy a pountine, or a calamari but without spices. The request didnt even make it to the kitchen, as the server said they didnt have the basic items... Even though all these items could be found thoughout the menu attached to other dishes. He also said he didnt want to confuse the kitchen staff. Not a restaurant that is conscious of their guest experience.
Their wine selection is limited, and their entree's were par in conjunction with their $40 costing. Good but nothing you'll likely remember.
Last straw for me was after dinner coffee.... I asked for an Americano with cream only to be advised the restaurant doesnt stock cream(only milk)... No.. they werent sold out... They actually dont stock cream. That's a first for me.
Lastly, when it gets busy, the patrons waiting for seating in the lobby gaze over the lowset wall like a fishbowl. They should raise the wall so people arent just standing their eyeballing your plates to time how much longer it will be until you are done.
Our table of seven had a 17 percent gratuity preadded to the bill... While that practise is somewhat common in the industry (usually with groups of 8 or larger), they didn't inform you of this. So watch your invoice detail.
Honestly go somewhere for less misery. This place is no better than Earls and at least they'll try for...
