Horrible experience and very disappointed. We ordered take-out and got it home to only discover that there had been an error and we clearly received someone else's order. I phoned to let them know there was a mistake and I was rudely challenged by the female that answered the phone. Finally I was passed off to a gentleman who confirmed my order again and I told him what we actually received. He apologized and I told him I would come back to get what we actually ordered. I take the 15 min drive back to get my food and bring them the wrong order. He takes my bag and goes into the kitchen. I wait another 5 ish minutes and he comes back out and hands me the exact same bag and apologizes for the error. Get home and open the boxes to find that they have reused the ingredients from the 2 boxes of the wrong dishes we had and put our chicken and shrimp (which the menu says is Shrimp Sugar Cane and that is not what we got) back on top of the lettuce and cucumbers that have now been sitting in the takeout box for almost an hour. Spring rolls were soggy by this point but clearly had been over cooked originally with the burnt ends and could only taste the garlic in them. Chicken is dark meat that was really fatty and chewy. Vermicelli noodles were sticky and mushy. Would not recommend them at all. Save your money and go elsewhere. We ended up throwing 3/4 of it in...
Read moreOne of the most affordable restaurants in Nanaimo. Pho prices are $11.95 for regular and $1-2 extra for a large. Vermicelli noodles $12.75 to $14.95 as with most of their menu. I can see why this place is popular with take out. I tried the pho a couple of years ago and I gave them 4 stars but I haven't returned back since.
However today I stopped by and tried the vermicelli noodles with pork, pork pattie and spring rolls special combination ($16.95). It was a super version of the regular vermicelli noodles. It was okay and came with a lot of meat. The noodles and fish sauce was fine but the salad (lettuce and cucumber) could have used a bit of shredded carrots. The pork chop was boneless and a bit over cooked but still okay. I wish they kept it bone-in and have a nice grill mark with lemon grass flavoring. The spring roll was also dry and tasteless. The pork pattie was a bit dry but okay.
I wouldn't recommend getting the vermicelli noodles as it is okay but not something I would recommend. The pho is much better and what I would order next time. The service is quick and friendly from an older cute couple. The restaurant decor is very basic and it helps keep the prices low, so I won't complain but it's not somewhere to impress a guest unless you are looking for cheap...
Read moreWorst service ever, came in with my four year old and ordered two noodle soups and appetizer. The lady basically ghosted my child, and said for one? when I said it's for two. When I asked for water (food arrived but no water), she gave me ONE cup for the two of us, ONE piece of napkin. I had to ask for a bowl, literally have to ask for every single thing and she stares at you every time and doesn't say anything, no smile either. In the end, there was left over and I asked for one to-go bowl. She happily gave it out to another guy, but when I asked, she said this plastic bowl is very expensive and that it's $1 next time, but no lid. I asked for a lid because idk how to transfer the noodle soup without the lid, and I get another death stare. Was I supposed to bring my own? We've been going here regularly and we were okay with the noodle soup always missing tendon and tripe even though it's supposed to come with it, we've never complained about anything. The guy server is really nice and the food comes out quick (the two stars), but today was a horrible experience with the lady that I don't think we'll be going anymore. Maybe smiling at all customers and serving them equally instead of being selective...
