The food was very good. Been looking for some good shawarma since I first had in Ottawa 6 years ago. Have not been able to find in the States. Owner was very rude. But not in an obvious way. He used words that were extremely polite but his tone and mannerisms said otherwise. We had a family of 7. I asked lots of questions and he explained everything. When I went to order he said several times "are you sure you want this platter - it only feeds 2 adults and 1 child." He seemed very annoyed we weren't ordering more. I told him not everyone was hungry. He reiterated what he had said and then added "because we don't allow outside food at all." He must have heard us talking about getting my daughter a sub. He said in a very rude tone "I am extremely sorry but we allow no outside food whatsoever." (There was a sign on the door that I hadn't seen.) I asked him could we not just bring in a sub from next door for one child. (We spent over $70 cad here.) He firmly said no. I should have canceled order then. We ended up getting it to go and I went to Firehouse to see if we could eat there (and to see if it was some sort of regulation in CA that we were unaware of. The girls at Firehouse seemed really surprised at him treating us this way and said absolutely no problem if we brought our food in there. They even gave all my kids hats and gave us containers to use as plates since Palms gave us none. The food was very good but felt like we were treated as 'less than' - don't know if its bc we are American or not Mediterranean or what but would never go back just based on the attitude of the owner. It's encouraging at least to see from other reviews that he has treated others this way and we aren't alone in it. If you go, I recommend takeout so you don't have to...
Read moreHonestly I’m not the type to leave a review on anything but this has to be the worst customer service I’ve had especially from a fellow Arab/middle Eastern, came in with 3 other people not knowing what we really wanted to get the older man (owner) started recommending a family combo to which we agreed on we asked him if we could do half and half on the shawarma meat and kebab to which he said he could do that for us, now the family combo was supposed to be $100 but he ended up charging us extra for the half and half we asked even thought he didn’t really say he was gonna charge us for it, anyways total was 171 with the 4 drinks we got and the hidden service fee we didn’t know about ended up giving him 200 and the rest as a tip, we got the food and the portion of food and quality was not what we expected at all very little amount and just not worth the money, ended up telling the owner that and asked him if we could get our tip back since we didn’t know about the extra charge and the service fee which was already basically a tip of 17 dollars, anyways he proceeded to say he didn’t count what we gave him and that he can’t do anything about it while trying to shut us up by saying I can’t do anything but I’ll just listen to you out of respect, not gonna say don’t come here but will just leave my experience here, I just felt very disrespected especially since it was the...
Read moreI saw that they do catering so I thought they would be a good choice for a large family meal. I was incorrect in my assessment. Almost everything in the meal was disappointing. I hate to be negative, but this is not a good representation of Middle-Eastern food. It's barely at mall food court level. The breakdown of the meal is below:
-The falafel was too dry -The tahini was so watered down that it barely had any taste and wouldn't stick to the falafel at all when you dipped it in. All it did was add a bit of white colour to it. -The garlic potatoes were basically diced potatoes with a bit of garlic flavour. Nothing like the roasted potatoes I've had before elsewhere. -The rice in the vine leaves tasted hard and undercooked -The fattoush salad was super soggy -The tabbouleh was OK but there was too much green and not enough everything else -The hummus was alright but not great. I've had better from the grocery store -I didn't have the shishkebab skewers but they were too salty from what I was told -I didn't hear complaints about the shawarma so it must have been OK -The rice was passable but not great either -The fries were good but it's pretty hard to mess up fries, haha.
All in all we were full at the end but not happy. I wouldn't order...
