I went to Carpaccios with my coworkers for a Christmas get together December 17.2021. I haven’t been here in a few years but the food was just as amazing as I remember. I believe the owner came around to make sure everybody was having a good time and enjoying the food that was very nice to see. The only reason for my three star review is that as I was paying the waitress brought me a bill with three gin and sodas on it. I in fact only had two. I had ordered my first, she came shortly after I finished it and asked me if I would like another I said yes. The second drink was never brought over. Then she came by again and asked if I wanted another one and I said yes. This time the drink was brought over. At the end of the night she charged me for three drinks… Not an issue I told her there was only two that I had and she said she thought she brought three but she would correct it. Minutes later her male coworker came over to the table and spoke with me saying that he removed the third drink from my bill but that if I hadn’t received it wouldn’t have been put in the system. So more or less he was calling me a liar. I then proceeded to tell him that I understand once it’s put in through the system the bartender makes the drink and the servers supposed to bring the drink over however while I’m sure the drink was made it was never brought over. My coworkers on either side of me I’ll vouch for me and saying that they only saw me with two drinks. The male waiter and our waitress for the evening still continued to tell me that it wouldn’t of been put through the system if it wasn’t made but that they still took it off. The waitress then proceeded to tell me that she brought the third drink in behind me which in fact was not the third drink it was the second drink she never brought three drinks. I appreciate that they took the third drink off but I didn’t appreciate being accused of lying. I can afford the six dollars that it would’ve cost if I had gotten three drinks but I am not going to pay for a drink that I never got. Mistakes are made, We were a group of 19 people and the restaurant was busy, and I understand that but there’s no reason to accuse me of lying. That situation right there was enough to make me not want to go back to this...
Read moreWe had very high hopes going in but carpaccio did not deliver. It was recommended to us from multiple sources, so we made sure we went there on our last Niagara visit.
The table bread was forgotten and I had to ask for it, which is fine. The bruschetta was excellent and set a great start to our meal.
Then it kind of fell off. I ordered a feature pizza where the highlight was the mortadella and I got it without it. I asked for a different one and when it arrived it had a completely different flavor profile, very acidic and hints of bitterness compared to the first one. I don't know if there was a second ingredient that was missing on my initial pizza but there might, because when I brought it to the server's attention she told me that it's a new feature menu and the cooks don't know it very well.
My wife's Chicken Parm was alright, my father in law's pork tenderloin was excellent 👌 and my mother in law's pasta Bolognese was on the worst side of Bolognese we have had, but that's solely preference so take it with a grain of salt.
I declined to take the pizza leftovers home, and I even told the server that my second pizza was very different and it felt like there was lemon drizzled all over it. The rest of the table confirmed because I gave everyone a piece, and yet no manager came to the table, I had to pay for one of the pizzas ( which is alright with me because the first one was way better than the second one even though it was missing at least one ingredient), we were not offered a dessert or even a coffee to make up for the mediocre experience that we had.
Now I'm saying all this to make a point that the management needs a wake up call. Not the wait staff or the cooks. Someone should have been there to take the feedback and provide assistance, when the first issue was raised.
I will also say that we were recommended this place for seafood and we didn't have any. Maybe our experience would have been very different if that was the case. But we still ordered items from the menu.
Anyways, that's that, make what you will! Place was looking good and was...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I decided to spend our 1 year anniversary in Niagara Falls. I looked online for restaurants and saw Carpaccio s had good reviews so I decided that it should be a good restaurant to celebrate at. We both work in the restaurant industry so we know what to expect from good service.
I had noted on our reservation that we were celebrating an anniversary but nothing was done about it by our server - maybe they do not do anything for celebrations, which is fine. We decided to just share a few items off their menu, the charceutire board, caprese salad, and the beef tenderloin carpaccio (figured this would be good conversing the restaurant is named after it). When we ordered, the server asked us if we would like everything to come together which we said yes to. Everything arrived separately.
The charceutire board was good, however, it consisted of 2/3 garnish/pickled vegetables and only 1/3 meat and cheese for $29. The beef tenderloin carpaccio, which I was looking most forward to, was extremely bland and unflavoured, even with trying to add some salt to it - unfortunate because the restaurant is named “carpaccio’s”… The caprese salad burrata cheese tasted off and when let our server know he apologized and stated that it was the restaurant’s fault entirely and still charged us for the item… really unfortunate to pay for bad food on your anniversary :( At our restaurant, if a person complains their food tastes off, we automatically offer them a new plate or a different meal altogether and take the item off the bill.
Between our $30.00 cabs to get to and from the restaurant, we were better off staying somewhere that is walking distance from our hotel and recommend others do the same. Between the bland food and risk that your items taste like they’ve gone bad plus having to still pay for them, you’re better off going elsewhere.
I’m surprised the restaurant has such good reviews… maybe we just picked all the wrong things/came on the wrong night. Overall, we will not be back at risk of having a similar experience and do...
