I’m a positive guy and 95% of my reviews are positive. I don’t like to leave a negative review as it may harm a business, but when it’s clearly deserving, I will do to help the business owner to succeed and to tell them why.
When this Donair Dude had grand opening maybe 2017, there were long lineups of happy customers. Original franchise owners seemed happy. The portions were generous of both meat and extras.
Over the years ownership has changed hands several times and Donair Dude is a shadow of what it once was. Over the last year I frequented this location and similar to others, it’s an embarrassment with how frugal they are with portions. Chicken donair in pita wrap, the owner or employee carefully puts two small scoops of meat into the pita, often shaking meat off top of ladle if heaped over to give you less meat. The portion size is an embarrassment.
For anyone who knows the true wholesale cost of meat and produce to restaurants, it’s very cheap compared to retail at Safeway or what not.
Why are they being so cheap? Just look at the current owner. That person is to blame. Same goes for Capilano Mall food court.
Then you ask them for the veggies or what not. All they give you is a tiny clear plastic spoon portion of each. Then drizzle with your choice of sauce, place in panini press, hand to you and take your $16 plus dollars. Their profit margin is HUGE. I understand their business model but it failed the smart consumer like I am.
Recently I’ve been going to Chipotle on 13th and Lonsdale. Another franchise. Donair Dude can be more successful if they follow these principles.
Chipotle gives healing large spoons of meat and all other items. Huge. They charge $3 for guacamole and it’s a huge spoonful, maybe 4 ounces.
Their offerings are good value to the customer during these times of inflation and yet they are making huge profits with much greater volume of customers. $13 for a burrito that is double weight of a Donair Dude donair, $16 with guacamole.
Customer leaves happy and feeling good value and tells their friends. Also tells their friends to avoid Donair Dude scam.
Wake up and provide better value to your customers or see your business dwindle further and further.
Wake up. Don’t be so cheap. My...
Read moreMy recent visit to Donair Dude left me incredibly dissatisfied and compelled to share my disappointing experience. It pains me to say this, but I cannot overlook the significant decline in quality and value that I encountered during my visit.
To start, the most noticeable change was the shocking reduction in portion sizes. The once-generous servings of meat have been drastically downsized, leaving me feeling cheated and unsatisfied. It's disheartening to witness a blatant attempt to cut corners and maximize profits at the expense of customer.
As if that weren't enough, the price increase only added insult to injury. Donair Dude expects customers to pay more for less, which is an unjustifiable and disappointing business practice. It's clear that they prioritize their bottom line over the happiness and loyalty of their customers.
The deterioration in quality was undeniable. The flavors that once delighted my taste buds were now bland and uninspiring. It felt as though the passion and attention to detail that were once hallmarks of Donair Dude's offerings had completely vanished. This lackluster experience left me questioning why I even bothered to give them a chance.
I implore the management of Donair Dude to take a long, hard look at the choices they have made that have led to this decline. Customers deserve better than what they are currently offering. Until significant changes are made to address the issues I have highlighted, I will be looking elsewhere for a satisfying...
Read moreI’d give them 0 star if it was an option. Ever since they got taken over by NEW MANAGEMENT they’ve gone downhill fast! Truly their main goal now is to profit as much as possible while skimping maximum on the food. DO NOT ORDER extra meat on anything, it’s a total scam. I use to order Donair dude 3 times a week and I loved it! I workout 5 days a week and they’d give so much chicken it would fill half my protein intake for the day. Now they rip you off, skimp on protein, even aren’t willing to add a bit of extra sauce without charging you. I’ll never order from them again. The below images are supposed to be Donair Fries with lamb and extra chicken. Do you see any chicken? Only 1 tiny piece. They’ve done this to me multiple times now so I started ordering two different meats to force them to add it but that didn’t work. You just lost a long time customer over a few dollars worth of chicken. I posted a video of my order history on Yelp proving how often I ordered just so you’d know it’s wasn’t a one time thing.
My old 5 star review before new management took over recently! I can’t leave this review any longer. Friendly team, great food, the chicken is so good! I love the donair poutine! They forgot a drink on my last order when I came in and told them the guy paid for two drinks for meal. I'll be a customer for life....
