today i went with my wife to have dinner around 7:30, restaurant was empty and no line up, only 1 couple finishing the food at the table. ok the servter came to take our order , first of all no smile at all and not even welcoming to our place. she was in a hurry just to take our order ( its like give me your order and get lost). we did the order ( only 2 Dishes ) and we went to sit and prepare our self to have the food. i went to the washroom and in my way back i was looking to the kitchen didn't see any body preparing our food !!!!! instead everybody was cleaning inside, and not even the stove was on !!!!! was off and all the bowel was not there ... I ask the same friendly server that she help us when our food will be ready ??? she answer : it will be ready have seat !!!!! I ask again when it will be ready ? she reply 10-15 minutes ( for sure more than that ) so I had to cancel my order and get my money back , the same server said: we are cleaning the dishes because its piling up and we didnt have time to clean them !!!!! seriously !!!!!! I worked in restaurant before and i know how it works . you have to be ready till the moment you're close the door .. this is how you serve your customers , not waiting for 15 minutes your not the KEG . its not my fault that your dishes need to be washed and you need to clean the place .another server came or i don't know what's here position and cancel our order and refund the money and she was nice with smile. any way another restaurant to the black list i guess And this is North...

A surreal experience. A party of 8 of us 'dined' here. 4 adults, 4 kids. This is effectively a food court experience, it's wrong to call this a restaurant. Prepay, get your own cutlery. You should know meals may be ordered 1-10 on a scale of spiciness. 2 of the kids had their meal ordered 2 out of 10, apparently this was 'mild'. They could not eat their meals because things were too spicy. The other 2 kids were ordered 0/10 and were fine, though their smaller tummies couldn't fit it all in. Generally, the portions are bigger here. The 4 out of 10 green curry for my wife was surprisingly spicy in her words, and she said she didn't enjoy the meal because of how spicy it was. The other wife ate perhaps 10% of her meal, thinking it was too spicy also. The two dads, of which I am one, aspire to be real men one day and so both ordered laksas, his 5/10 and mine 7/10. I didn't consider my meal spicy enough to rate 7/10, we definitely weren't switched because of the color. We were the only two to finish our meals. Wife said there was loud music in the kitchen making it difficult to verbally order the meals at the kiosk - no waiter will take your order. Metal soup spoons, with plastic cutlery otherwise rounded this experience off...

Nice interior that beautifully disguises the subpar experience that awaits.

Service is practically non existent and is reminiscent of being in a food court. Tea isn't included and drinks are self served.

Food looks decent at first but when you bite it into there's an overwhelming taste of coconut milk. A couple bites in, my palette has already become bored. The spiciest level was hardly spicy and mostly over powered by the coconut milk. Soon enough, there's an abundance of carbs and nearly no protein left. By the time I finished eating, I was still hungry but decided against ordering another plate as I didn't want to spend $10+ on mostly carbs.

Nutritional and monetary value are low and when you have to pay an EXTRA $2 for prawns and get ONLY 3 prawns, that is ridiculous.

Not only does this "restaurant" disappoint in terms of quality as well as quantity, the lack of service and overall concept is confusing. Based on the interior, I did expect a better dining experience, but was clearly mistaken. I wouldn't even take out knowing that it'd be mostly bland carbs with hardly any protein that will have cooled off by the time I get home. There isn't much choice for Thai food but as someone who has had good Thai food,...

Have been to their Highgate (Burnaby) location before, but not in a while, so was looking forward to having their food again! I had their Pad See Ew with beef (total $16.25 including tax). It was a good portion size for a filling lunch! For light eaters, it could probably be stretched for 2 meals. You can't see it in the image, but it did have a fair amount of tender, thin beef slices for the $2.49 protein add-on. I thought the rice noodles and pre-set ingredients (egg, broccoli, bok choy, carrots, onions) were cooked well. They added a good crunch to the dish! My friend had their Tom Yum Soup with prawn. While they were sitting in the broth, she believed the tomatoes tasted slightly off, and was missing its freshness. While customers can dine-in and the food is brought to the table after it's cooked, everything else is self-serve (water, utensils, returning plates to a tray). Rice and Noodle continues to be a fast and consistent, casual eatery for Thai/Asian food. Would recommend.

(2023 update: Ordered the chow mein again, figured it'd been over 2 years, but they are consistent! I'll give em that, it was burnt again and all you could taste was a burnt stir fry, please lower your temperatures to avoid burning all your dishes, the flavour is horrible when you burn the whole dish.) (2021) Rice and noodle has pretty good pad Thai, which I previously enjoyed, but today I got the chow mein and it was soggy and burnt. As soon as I opened the box, all I could smell was burnt food. It had been stir fried so everything tasted like burnt vegetables. The noodles were fine, but as you can see from the picture, most of the veggies, if not all, were quite charred. I would still recommend the Pad Thai as it's a hit, but the Chow Mein is a miss unfortunately. First time I got the pad Thai, I also found a hair in it, not ideal. I suggest hair nets to minimize chances of hair getting into the food.

THAI food on Lonsdale FOOD: They serve Thai food on this restaurant. Beware of the 'level of spice' it can be too spicy for some. Always go on Pad Thai and soup. PRICE: Servings are price appropriately. But the price is if you only have cravings. You won't be eating here everyday, if you know what I mean. STAFF: Friendly and Efficient service. For dining in customers, most of it would be self service including getting your water on the dispenser. LOCATION: centrally located which means hard to get a parking spot on rush hours. A good spot on commuting customers as this is a few steps from a bus stop. If you live nearby, just walk. RECOMMENDATION: I always change what I order everytime I go. Coconut Soup is good, but safest order would be pad thai. Food services available if you want this at home.
