Amazing Persian-style sandwiches with traditional Boolki bread at Hidra Sandwich
I recently had the pleasure of trying out Hidra Sandwich in Lonsdale North Vancouver and was blown away by their selection of sandwiches. They specialize in traditional Persian-style sandwiches that are made with a unique bread called Boolki. The bread was crispy on the outside, yet soft and chewy on the inside, just like the original.
The menu at Hidra Sandwich is extensive, and it was hard to choose which sandwich to try. I ultimately settled on the Soosis Bandari, which was hands down the best sandwich I've ever had. The Kookoo Sabzi and Olivieh sandwiches were also delicious, and I can't wait to try the rest of the menu.
The portions were generous, and I felt that the prices were reasonable for the quality of the sandwiches. Although I didn't get a chance to see their restaurant, I had the opportunity to taste their sandwiches at a party and was thoroughly impressed.
Overall, I highly recommend Hidra Sandwich for anyone who's looking for an authentic and flavorful sandwich experience. I hope they continue to maintain their quality and expand their reach, so more people can try their...
Read moreI hoped to have authentic Persian sandwiches and order 2 sandwiches and Cheese&fries. The cheese hotdog sandwich barely had cheese added. The lady recommended to pay extra for extra cheese and mushroom, but still no cheese. Just waste of extra for cheese! The other sandwich Maghz&Zaban missed the original authenticity, no spices . Neither saffron or Turmeric. The portion was good, but no taste. Both buns were staled and toasting didn’t much helped! The last one on the order was Fries and cheese. Again no cheese on the fies . Mushroom were not fully cooked. Sauce also were disappointing and not tasty . simple mayo would work better. Stir overall was clean and new, menus well designed and pictured. Some of staff were nice and welcoming, some a bit need basic hospitality training. The price is about 25% above their competitors in the same neighborhood, which for this quality of food, to my opinion, not worth it.
May try them a bit later, if the improved . But tonight was a bit...
Read moreI absolutely love this place.
I'm a fairly recent transplant from Winnipeg, who grew up eating tongue and brains at home and tongue sandwiches at Jewish delis.
Since moving to Vancouver, I've found it impossible to feed that craving when it comes. I have been unimpressed with the Jewish delis in the lower mainland.
Then Hidra opened and they have everything I crave and more, and only a few blocks from my home.
The owners are always friendly, pleasant and accommodating. As well, their staff is friendly and awesome.
There is no other place in North Vancouver like Hidra. They have me craving their sandwiches and coming back frequently.
If you're looking for something different to eat, especially late on Lonsdale or North Van in general, you can't go wrong with Hidra.
Sometimes I spend under $20, sometimes a little bit more. It depends what I'm craving, but everything is well worth the price you pay!
Very, very highly...
