You will never find a better, more charming mom and pop shop for handcrafted sandwiches of house made, slow cooked, mouth watering meats paired with local craft beers and ciders. ( wine and whiskey also available ) They have breakfast and dinner features as well. Very reasonably priced. Try and find a legendary sandwich and craft pint for under $20 on the north shore! Go ahead. I'll wait......
The proprietors of this humble and quaint yet lively charismatic 12 seater, husband and wife duo, Martin and Sherry are some of the genuinely nicest and warmest people you could ever hope to meet. They take great care in what they do and it definitely shows in every tiny way.
The mom and pop team truly value, respect and charm their loyal fan base and treat every guest like they were family.
In fact, the micro shoppe is referred to as their "living room" and a quick visit will have you feeling as though you are with friends and family in no time. Even when rubbing elbows with strangers, I have a hard time leaving.
They really do get all the best folks everyday and there is never a shortage of conversation which is incredible, because you get the feeling of a village pub in the UK or Ireland except that it's in the heart of a major city and you just won't find that anywhere else. It's become somewhat of a neighborhood institution and it's crystal clear as to why that is.
I shouldn't tell you just how wonderful Meat at O'Neill's is because I want to be selfish and keep it a secret so I can get a seat and enjoy it all to myself, but good things should be a shared experience and good things are ALWAYS worth the wait and that is exactly what they are about. The experience and building solid relationships and planting roots in Lonsdale with a passion for keeping people happy and fed with slow cooked foods.
I mean, When was the last time that you had a genuine chat while waiting on food from someone that remembered your name and story? Which didn't include the mind numbingly auto-robotic phrases "how is everything tasting?" Or "grab you guys another round?" Or "I'll be your server" only to wonder who this new server is and what was going on with your drinks and food? It's all right in front of you here. All earnest and upfront. You are in great hands.
When Martin and Sherry ask how you are, they really want to know and greet you with "we have that pale ale that you love again Barrie. Pint of that for you?" It's these little attentions to details that build repeat guests and leave you wanting to go visit time and time again.
It's my favorite lunch spot in all of Canada. Its always top shelf service and fare. Do yourself and a friend or two a favor and go pay them a visit. You'll love the experience and the people watching is pretty amusing too.
Great. Now I'm craving a meatloaf...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting Meat at O’Neills, and I have to say, it was an unforgettable dining experience. I ordered the Fraser Valley Pork Loin sandwich, and it was, hands down, one of the tastiest sandwiches I’ve had in a long time. The pork was perfectly tender, juicy, and full of rich, savory flavors that made every bite better than the last. The fresh, locally sourced ingredients really shone through in this dish, and it’s clear that a lot of care goes into the preparation.
Beyond the food, what made the experience even more enjoyable was the exceptional customer service. The owner truly went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, offering personal recommendations and ensuring that every aspect of our meal was perfect. It’s rare to find a place where you feel so genuinely taken care of, and that level of hospitality really sets Meat at O’Neills apart.
If you’re in the area, I highly recommend stopping by! You won’t be...
