Disappointing service would be an understatement. Discrimination of family dinning would be more accurate which was shocking to me given that this is an Italian restaurant.
My family was visiting for my 30th birthday. There was 6 adults and 2 children. My girlfriend had made reservations/ arrangements weeks in advance so that the staff could accommodate us. Sadly the complete opposite happened. When we arrived with balloons and a cake we were told that the balloons could blow up and catch fire, that we had to be more careful- Not one of the staff bothered to ask what we were celebrating or even who’s birthday it was. We were then told very impolitely that there was a 30 dollar cake cutting fee which is expected, But the delivery was extremely distasteful, they just shouted it at the table, still not asking what we were celebrating . The staffs sour behaviour made everyone at the table feel unwelcome for a night that should have been a fun family celebration.
Unfortunately things got worse ! When my sister came in with my sleeping baby nephew in a child carrier the waitress came over and went “hmmm..... hmmmmmm” very loud . She said that having the baby carrier on the seat just wouldn’t work. We all looked at her in shock and she said “oh I’m just thinking out loud how that baby carrier won’t work there”. At that point, we as a table had been through enough abuse from the inexperienced team at Farina a Legna. It was such an unpleasant experience. I wouldn’t even send someone that I don’t like here. I think that the reviews about the food don’t bear any weight in a situation like this; I lost my appetite from the way that the staff treated my family. I felt sick to my stomach. The disrespect will echo. Luckily there are other Italian restaurants on the North shore with better trained staff and better food quality. I will never dine here. I will never recommend this...
Read moreWe came here as a surprise for Father’s Day. We walked in and luckily they had a no show for a reservation so we had the table for 1.5 hours until 7pm.
The atmosphere was very relaxed but the food being served at other tables looked amazing.
Our younger son had the special Diavola Pizza. It had some spicy salami, olives, onion and banana peppers with spicy tomato sauce. He asked them to exclude the artichoke. He really enjoyed the heat as he likes spice!
Our older son had the Quattro Formaggi Pizza as he loves his cheeses. It had lots of flavour and was ooey, gooey good!
My wife had the Zucca Piselli e Prosciutto. It had Campanelle, pea, arugula & squash purée, English pea, butter, parmigano, pecorino, crispy prosciutto with a white wine and lemon juice sauce. She loved the different flavours of the veggies, crispy meat, cheeses and the lemon juice with its acidity in the white sauce!
I ordered the Frutti Di Mare as I love seafood! With prawns and mussels it was so amazing! The black ink squid pasta is something I haven’t had locally here, only in Venice a long time ago. The sauce with cherry tomatoes, nduja butter, fennel, parsley and focaccia bread crumbs was so good especially for dipping the homemade crispy bread into that came along with it!
For drinks our younger son had a blood orange Italian soda while our older son had a lemon Italian soda. They found them really refreshing as it was very hot. My wife had a live glass of red wine while I had a can of sumner with a Beva Fresco (lemon Saison) beer which went perfect with this meal!
There were lots of families and couples enjoying the awesome food and the hospitality of the amazing staff such as our server Erin! My first time here but it...
Read moreMy partner and I very much enjoyed the restaurant! For one, the service was wonderful and we were greeted warmly by smiling faces all around. The ambiance was warm and inviting and the food was delicious! We ordered the carbonara and ragú pastas, and burrata with bread for our appetizer. Everything came out very quickly and tasted fantastic. Our server was very attentive and warm, as was the host.
Now for the one reason for 4/5 stars- the portion sizes. Everything else aside, we were super hungry after a day in the mountains, and wanted to treat ourselves to something new and tasty. We are not people who do this very often. We ordered an app ($20) and a pasta each (~$60), and actually had to make a full second dinner when we got home. If i’m paying $30 for a bowl of pasta, im expecting enough food to make me fall asleep on the couch before I can even make it to bed. If I could afford it, I would go back, but it made me sad to think all $30 can buy me is somewhere between 17 and 22 rigatonis with a couple chunks of beef. I really want to emphasize that nobody at the restaurant is at fault for the egregious under serving of fine ragú covered semolina other than the management, and that I have absolutely nothing but good things to say about the actual quality of the food itself and the wonderful people working there. I would just like to walk back to my car half bloated and smiling rather than really hungry and still a little light headed. Leaving a pricey restaurant hungry after deciding to treat ourselves just felt like we lost.
Thanks for the...
