I was in North Vancouver for an appointment with my wife and father in law. I am vegetarian and they are meat eaters. I needed a place where we could all eat and was happily surprised to see Pho Spot offered vegetarian options. I saw many negative google reviews regarding the woman who runs the restaurant and I thought she can’t be that bad. Well I have no one to blame but myself this lady is very Kurt and rude. Perhaps it is a cultural thing I don’t know, but as long as the food is good I can usually overlook that. My veggie pho broth was more like water and had little to no flavour. The wontons my father in law order looked nothing like the photos. My wife had a vermicelli bowl with lettuce that had been previously frozen and had ice crystals in it. I love Vietnamese and have it least twice weekly in other locations. She pre-made the coffee in a large jug and added the sweet milk with the coffee cold. If you know this coffee you know it does not melt the condensed milk and tastes horrible when done like this. When we asked for it prepared the proper way she refused as we had already taken a sip. So I told her to pour ours down the drain $14 for two ice coffees. This was our first time here and it will be our last time here. I told her this and she really didn’t care. Doesn’t seem like the negative reviews affect this business still several customers. Also worse of all overpriced food lunch for three $86.63. I would have considered going back if she gave us some fresh coffees, but she was too cheap to correct her error. Loosing customers will cost you more in the long run than 2 coffees.

This can be a quick bite if u have dire need for pho. But if u r travelling and only have a few precious meals to spend on, dont come here. The beef is very rough, Very unseen in viet pho shops. I understand no good pho shop in north Van, but this is bad. I ordered 'P10' with tendon.....could not find it.... went to confirm with the keeper before starting on it. Was told it was there....... searched n searched, got traces of it as little as nail size. Ordered hot drip coffee, and was given with the thermos flask (in the pic), once opened the top, it got smudge as if a personally-used flask. The broth was tasty though. No service at all, and the keepers (?) looked and spoke fiercely.

The rating on this place is underrated. Head here for the Pho Sate, and you will be pleasantly surprised by a flavorful soup base, perfect rice noodles, and very high quality raw beef(not gristly at all, like other places). It comes piping hot and the thinly sliced meat cooks to perfection as you separate and distribute it through your broth. Staff are friendly and helpful too. Lemon grass chicken is equality top notch. This is a genuine Vietnamese run Vietnamese restaurant that you'll enjoy going to. Highly recommended!

We two were the only customers yesterday around dinnertime. We sat down. A middle-aged lady with a rude demeanour brought us only one menu, which was awkward because we were seated across from each other. From the moment we sat down, we were shocked how rude and unwelcoming she was. That horrid woman brought us one knife, one fork, one spoon, and one set of chopsticks, even though there were two of us. Red flag! We ordered grilled pork with rice and grilled pork with noodles. Both came with rolls, but not the Vietnamese rolls we have become accustomed to. These were like Chinese rolls - possibly frozen. They were horrible. Worse, I highly doubt that was pork on our plates. It tasted like beef and it was cut badly - inches long with lengths of fat in it. My friend told me his noodles tasted "musty." When I asked for a Vietnamese coffee, that horrid woman said to us, "Oh, it's too strong for her." My friend said, "No, it's not. She drinks a lot of coffee." He said to me, "I get the intense feeling that she doesn't want us here." Racism perhaps? I wonder if other non-Vietnamese have been treated similarly. She was rude to us the entire time we were there. The food was horrible. The service was horrible. That woman's attitude was one of the worst I have ever witnessed in a server. I was going to leave a very small tip, but my friend shook his head so I didn't leave any tip. We won't ever be going back to that awful little place with that morose, unfriendly server. Judging from the reviews, she will never change her attitude. I just looked at a great many of the 1-star negative reviews, and all of them seem to be written by customers with non-Vietnamese names. Again, perhaps racism is the...

Customer service isn't a necessity to run a restaurant but it helps. At the "Pho Spot" they don't care about customer service; honestly it's fine by me as long as the food is good. That being said they gave us the wrong order and when we came back to get the correct order we were told "it's not my fault she said p1" essentially saying we were lying and acting like we're causing her trouble (ironic). Reluctantly she agreed to cook what we actually ordered and PUT THE WRONG ORDER BACK ON THE LINE TO BE SERVED TO SOMEONE ELSE (which we brought home and touched). Instead of telling who I assume was the owner (couldn't imagine an employee treating customers this way) how poorly I felt I was treated, I left hoping to see a for lease sign the next time I drive by; hopefully this review helps with that!

I don't usually write reviews unless it really matters to me, and until now I've only written good reviews. I work full time as a server and I feel that people like the lady that served me tonight put a bad light on what I do for a living. Do yourself and the Lonsdale community a favor and spend your money on any other Pho restaurant in the city.

P.S. the food is...
