This is a cozy little place that may get overlooked, but trust me, you'll want to keep on checking these guys out. We ordered a jumbo donair (believe me, jumbo is an understatement - this thing was huge!), two super donairs (they were pretty big too), a couple salads (one Greek, one Tabooli) and a side of onion rings. First of all, the donairs were DELICIOUS. I've had plenty of donairs in my lifetime, but the jumbo I had? Probably one of the best I've had in a long time. It was so big that I actually surprised myself by eating it all in one sitting! That alone was worth five stars, but my peers were just as satisfied with theirs. When it comes to donairs, D&SH know exactly how to make 'em just right with more than enough meat, sauce and the like. The salads were quite good too, although they were a touch too vinegary; to be fair, though, having never had tabooli before, maybe it's supposed to be that way. And the onion rings were good, too. And to top it all off, the customer service has always been top notch here. I reviewed this place before, but I had to delete it and make an entirely new one just because these guys really hit it out of the park in all aspects. Thank you guys for making my birthday one to remember. I hope everyone reading this takes the time to check these guys out - trust me, the reviews...
Read moreI heard about this place several times in the past but never had the chance to stop by and grab some food. Well, today that changed. I stopped by and bought a few items from their menu. I picked up two Shawarma platters, both chicken. On top of that, I ordered two super donair combos, one with fries and the other with onion rings. As I watched the guys prepare our order, I was surprised by the quantity of food for each order. Wow. A very large portion of food was prepared for each order. Impressive. Once we got home we dug in. Now I've had donairs before, but the one I had was huge, fresh and a good amount of sauce. Not dry at all. Well done. As for the platters, well they got high scores as well from the people eating them. I haven't even mentioned the size of the fries and onions rings with the combos. Those items alone could have been lunch as they were very large portions. I could only eat the donair at the time as there was no room left for the fries in my belly. lol. If you've not had the chance to drop in and have a munch, I highly recommend it. You will be very satisfied and will definately be back. I know I will for sure. Oh, and the staff, I assume one was the...
Read moreI'm pretty sure that Donair and Shawarma House is the best donair shop in the west end. Portions are crazy generous, the food tastes great, cooked fresh and incredible service. I really enjoyed chatting with the guys as they prepared my food, learned more about their roots in Syria and how they prepared their food back home. The guys were so accommodating when I asked for my donair to be wrapped in sajj, it's a game changer, so much better than pita. They jammed it with nothing but perfectly cooked donair meat and about half a litre of garlic sauce and left the veggies on the side. Consuming this masterpiece of a donair felt criminal, like I had rolled up the Mona Lisa in sajj, drenched it in garlic sauce and ate it. The chicken shawarma platter was equally epic, thankfully my wife is a light eater and I was able to claim the leftovers for my lunch the following day. Literally no complaints about Donair and Shawarma House, they are legit and I highly recommend eating donairs here as opposed to Prairie Oyster donair shop across Stony plain road that burns...
