We stayed overnight to attend a party that was being held downstairs. The room itself was satisfactory; clean and organized. The staff were nice and accommodating and answered any questions I had.
Few things we had issues with:
The key card would sometimes not work on the first time we insert it. We've stayed at other hotels before in Edmonton, but this is the first time we've had an issue like this. At one point, I had to ask for the keycard to be 'replaced' and was told not to have it near electronic devices. That part I get, but it's a bit inconvenient especially when I always have my phone with me. Coincidentally, I wasn't the only guest that had the same problem because as I was about to ask for our breakfast stub, another guest was there to report the same problem.
The room temp and (party) venue temp; we like having our room cooler than usual. I think it was originally at 22C then my husband lowered it to 17C. We didn't notice any improvement with the room right away, so we attended the party downstairs. The venue itself was terribly warm. I initially thought it was because of the number of people, but throughout the night, a lot of us were already fanning ourselves because of the apparent lack of ventilation. I assumed someone had reported, but was eventually just thankful it was over. When we went back to our room, it still wasn't cool enough for us so we decided to open the window (which didn't really help much). When it became unbearable, I called front desk in the morning to report it. After breakfast, we went down to the pool to swim until it was almost time to check out. When we came back to our room, we were surprised to find a man standing there. He said he was called to work on the AC. Again, I get why he was there, but it was a very unnverving experience. He proceeded to tell us that the AC shut down because it was set to do so when the temp went lower than 19C!! Had we known about that beforehand then of course we would follow it! A sign or message or any warning when we first reported it would've been nice! Would have saved their tech the trouble to go all the way up to our room and save my rattled nerves!
I'm not really picky with food, but gotta say that the breakfast choices were quite limited and the place was quite dark (well, the walls were dark, but lighting...
Read moreGreat customer service satisfaction indeed from the Guest Services Manager Miss Zoya Annable for giving us the so-called " there's always exemptions to the rule". She was able to accommodate my sister's request for not signing and for not putting her credit card info through canary authorization payment for my daughter's 18th birthday. Instead, we used our debit card to pay for the venue and it's a huge relief on our side because all we want is for my daughter to be very happy and have a memorable 18th birthday. And also many thanks to Miss Dina Domingo, the Sales and Events Manager, who helped us to secure the oak/tamarack function room & the date, (though it wasn't the original plan)for responding to our inquiries and for the complimentary room for the celebrant. I will highly recommend Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham West Edmonton to my family, relatives & friends whether to celebrate a special occasion in one of their function rooms or just simply staying in their hotel. Looking forward to another great customer service for the debut party of my daughter in September.
I posted a 5 stars review 5 months ago in regards to my daughter's debut party. I will still give a 5 stars to Days Inn and Suites for their great service! My daughter just had her debut party on Saturday. Great customer service from the front desk team to the housekeeping staff. Thanks a lot to Miss Dina (Sales & Events Manager) from reserving the venue till before my daughter's party for all the assistance and help to make my daughter's 18th birthday a truly memorable one and to her assistant Ayana as well. And we greatly appreciate the complimentary room which Miss Dina provided for my daughter. The front desk manager didn't hesitate to gave an extra voucher for the free breakfast when I asked for my father-in-law, customer satisfaction indeed. Definitely, will do a repeat business in the future and highly recommended their hotel whether celebrating a special occasion or simply staying in...
Read moreAugust 13th 2021-My family had decided to last minute book a room at this hotel in Edmonton through Expedia. We booked a King room with accommodation for 2 adults/1 child for $167. When we arrived to the hotel we were greeted by Andrew. I gave him my info and he immediately asked if that was my son making it 3 of us. I said yes, he asked me how old he was and then proceeded to tell me that he could not sell me this room due to fire regulations. I get it, but I was confused as to why they sold it as such on Expedia. I asked him to explain to me how this happened. He was getting very aggressive and rude. He flipped his monitor around and pointed out the reservation on his screen. He went on to tell me that it was Expedia's fault and I needed to contact them and that he won't do anything for me. I asked him if he had any other rooms that we could book and he immediately said no. I asked him if he had a number or contact to get in touch with Expedia, he gave me an automated number that got me nowhere. I asked him if he could contact them to advise that we can not check into room and will require a refund and he refused, said that he did not have that contact information. We checked once again Expedia while we were trying to figure out another hotel and low and behold there were 6 rooms available at this location with a King room that accommodated 2 adults/1 child. We left feeling very undervalued as potential guests. That same night I received a phone call from Expedia as per Andrew getting in touch with them , they refunded me my money quickly. So clearly this could have all been resolved if he had just been able to assist us in the first place. Andrew has absolutely no compassion or consideration for what we were going through. No customer service skills what so ever. If I were Days Inn West Ed, I would reconsider your first point of contact for...
