My family stayed at this property for 16 nights while our house was repaired. Since our kids were older we had two rooms, a King Suite and a two Queen room.|For the tourist this is a quick drive to West Edmonton Mall. Behind the hotel is a WalMart (handy for filling the fridge) and several fast food options that are all within walking distance. The hotel does have underground parking that has a 6.5' clearance.||The good;|The staff are very friendly. Even the housekeeping staff who don't speak English well always had a smile on their face as you tried to request extra trash bags if you ran into them on their rounds.|The rooms were spacious and comfortable, especially the bed. I've slept in hotels that charged triple and didn't have beds this comfortable. The shades blocked out the early/late sun (for summer stays), and the day blinds allowed for natural light while maintaining privacy. |The bathroom was a good size with a nice walk-in shower. Toiletries are provided in a locked, wall-mounted dispenser. Environmentally friendly, without worrying about a previous guest's misuse of the product.|There are free washer and dryer units that have timers on them.||For a $150 fee we were able to bring our Staffy.||The "not the best";|The work desk is built over the AC unit. It keeps the main room cool but many times I had to shut it down because my legs were freezing.|There's no light in the dining area. Even turning on the LR and kitchen lights it was still dark even at 6 pm.|The shower could use a wand. The pressure was good but the head only moved so much.|Finally, the main entrance has a little "patio" section that contains two grills. This is also where people go to enjoy the outdoor temps while consuming alcohol and smoking both cigarettes and "natural" herbs. Not a great look for the entrance to a family property. One of the groups got a bit too...
Read moreWe spent four nights here as a family, meeting with friends from Alberta who also stayed at Candlewood and were also impressed with the accommodation. The rooms were considerably larger than we had expected, which was welcomed. The kitchens were fully kitted-out with all we could need, with additional utensils and implements available from the reception / Cupboard area. WiFi was free, secure, and the signal strength was strong and consistent. The room was quiet and clean, with comfortable pillows and beds. The bathroom was also large, clean and nicely furnished. We used the pool and gym, and the kids used the games room (quarters are required). We also had breakfast in the adjacent hotel which offered a good variety though the cost did add up and in retrospect we probably should have bought our own cereal and toast.
The location was ideal for West Edmonton Mall, and there are some nearby shops and chain restaurants within walking distance.
We’d like to say a special thank you to Judith on the reception desk, who sorted out a booking issue for us with no fuss. We were very concerned that it would be a big problem - we’d booked through a third party, then subsequently extended our booking by one night and the provider hadn’t notified the hotel of the change, so we arrived to find we had a room for three instead of four nights. She was quick to find a solution so we could stay in our room at the rate we’d expected to pay, despite the...
Read moreWe had looked forward to our two-week stay in Edmonton, It looked great the first night and we settled in fine...But there was nothing asked the front desk that was promptly available.... The feeling we got was that what ever they did was as a favour...When it was time to have our once a week room cleaning, we called the front desk only to be told that it would just be a touch up after one week of cleaning up by ourselves, we asked for soap to wash dishes a few days into our stay, having only found an almost empty bottle on our first day, we were told someone would bring it, and yes after many hours it ws brought but had bleach in it. Water went off for some hours I went downstairs after waiting an hour for the water to return, I had shampoo in my hair for more than an hour, there was not sympathy but an expectation to understand... From the one full cleaning we asked for till we left there was no knocks on our door for housecleaning, when I asked, I was told that this was not part of the deal, that they were not supposed to knock on our door daily for housekeeping, we were to ask them at the front deskill we needed any thing. The hotel facility was great, Gym and pool was joined with the adjoining hotel, this was great. It was close to Walmart and other stores, great!. You an cook if you want, great...Maybe it was just us they did not like...but please be open minded to all people... Thanks ( I am an IHG Rewards...
