I walked to this location yesterday like I have many times in the past asked for my blizzard to be made with chocolate ice cream instead of vanilla. You would think a simple enough request right? Going to an ice cream place and willing to pay for ice cream where they have "we will make it right promise". We'll my day was going well right up to this point and then it went real side ways very fast. After asking for the choclate soft serve which the chocolate machine was right next to the vanilla directly in front of me. The employee started (I believe the statment might have been well intentioned to start) to tell me that the vanilla ice cream mixes with the chocolate and the ice cream comes out basically choclate anyway. I responded friendly and said no thats okay I would prefer the choclate like I had many times in the past. I was then told I could not have it and it was only for children and cakes. I said it's just the difference of turning the chocolate machine nob instead of the vanilla they are right next to each other. I was told again no, so being frustrated now I said I don't want anything and left the store walked across the street to the grocery store and bought ice cream drumsticks spending nothing at the dairy queen. It's a pretty sad day when you go to a store and try to buy something they sell and the tell you NO. Like what is the point of even being open.... this defiantly ruined my afternoon not a good...
Read moreI used to work at this location in 2021. I remember serving 2 blind customers a banana split and going thru a box of brown/squishy bananas to find a nice one for them. The manager, Jesse, interrupted my search to say, “You know they can’t see it, right?” I was horrified, ignored him and made them a proper banana split. I had an intimate issue with a coworker and subsequently was transferred to the Hillside location for one shift. I left 3 hours into the shift because of the mismanagement and mistreatment I was experiencing from each staff member. A customer apparently complained about their order during that time and in response the District Manager, Dave English, told the customer (without asking me first) that I am “special needs” and that they’ve been “working with me” on my confidence to get me to work affectively. This is untrue and if Dave had asked me prior to sending this email, I wouldn’t have consented to it.
I promptly quit less than a week after this incident and continued at my other position as a caregiver for adults with developmental disabilities. I have experienced some pretty terrible management in my time, but Dave and Jesse’s actions crossed serious lines. I cannot believe it’s been a year since I’ve worked there and the same people are still running the business. I have reached out to DQ Canada about this mistreatment twice and been ignored/dismissed. This is a part of my story....
Read moreThis review is specifically for Oak Bay location (Foul Bay & Cadboro Bay, Victoria, BC). It is located right next to “the Pet Store” and thought they would have some ideas for a “pup cup”.
I asked to see if they offer pup cup while I ordered for the whole family. Instead, the customer service team gave me an empty cup. There might have a language barrier. But it’s the attitude of the customer service team. Eventually, I showed them the internet thread on the internet. One customer service team said “no, we just have empty cup” and both were quite dismissive about it. Eventually, one of them said they could sell me a small ice cream in a cup for the price of small Sundae. Without wanting to deal with it anymore, I just paid for it and got out.
Could you please train your staff to be a bit more polite and respectful while providing them with all the necessary information regarding pup treats? I understand that not all franchises offer this. If this location doesn’t offer pup cup, all you have to do is to provide your staff with that information and what your franchise is offering for dogs, how much to charge etc.
This location has been my go to since 2002. Today experience left a very bitter taste in my...
