Bronte Chinese Food — Restaurant in Oakville

This used to be THE place to go to for Seschuan/Chinese cuisine, but I guess those days are gone! Bronte Chinese was a main staple for the Bronte community throughout the 90's and the 2000's when they operated quite a large dine-in & take-out restaurant first on Lakeshore Rd. in the heart of Bronte and then a more up-scale place in Hopedale Mall. The food was absolutely incredible - no one could even come close. Since closing down the restaurants & opening that tiny little take-out place on Lakeshore & East Street, their food has become bland & below average for sure. We still order from them once a year (for the past 5 years) just "to see", but not one thing has improved. For example, the meat is not fresh, it is precooked & sliced up ahead of time and tastes quite bad. Next time, try the meat without any sauces or accompaniments - especially the spareribs which are dry, many times hard as rocks and the sparerib sauce tastes overwhelmingly of grease and nothing else (definitely not honey/garlic/soy sauce). I really wish they would bring back the person(s) responsible for creating such amazing food so he/she could bring back what USED to be the best Chinese food around! We will be trying it one last time in January 2018 .... we'll see .......

The food was ok. My problem is the pricing. I worked the Thanksgiving Monday. The family was meeting at my place for dinner so I picked up Chinese food at the lakeshore location. I went on the website and checked the menu to know how much I was spending. With tax my order came to $144.00. When I called and ordered for pickup I was told the order came to $192.00. When I questioned her I was told the prices went up. When I brought it to her attention the website does not say that I was asked if I wanted to cancel my order. I told her I couldn't cancel because I had 8 people waiting for dinner. I don't know if it will make a difference, but I doubt I will return to this take out establishment again. UPDATE: Dec 15/24 In response to the owners response. Your website should be up to date. Like any other professional business you should have your pricing updated and the same on your site as is on your menu or posted on your menu boards if...

I Called in our order at 5pm for a 7:30pm pick up for dinner for 8. Arrived to pick up order on time and was told to sit down...had to wait (as I was internally combusting) until 8:30pm to actually get our order. Owner was mildly apologetic when giving me the order but no added dish or discount was extended for having me wait an hour at their pickup counter, and disappointing our guests who were waiting at our home. We were stunned at the lack of customer service, communication and respect for our time. The food was of low quality, and very bland and greasy! I would never order...
