We visited Eggstatic Oakville yesterday morning. I understand that you’ve just opened, but I wanted to share some feedback that I hope you’ll find helpful as you settle in.
Your staff would really benefit from more training — they seemed unsure about the menu and couldn’t answer some of our questions. For example, someone in our group ordered Turkish coffee but was told it wasn’t available and was instead served regular filtered coffee. Turkish coffee is listed on your menu, so this caused some confusion.
Additionally, one of the servers had noticeable stains on her T-shirt. It might be a good idea to have extra clean uniforms available, as cleanliness is an important part of the dining experience.
While I can overlook early service hiccups, the food itself was disappointing. The shakshuka was dry and lacked flavour, tasting more like tomato paste than a proper sauce. My foul was fine, but when I asked whether it came with hard-boiled eggs — as it’s described as an Egyptian specialty on your menu — the server insisted I was mistaken. I’m quite familiar with Middle Eastern breakfasts, and in Egypt, foul is indeed served with hard-boiled eggs. If it’s labeled as an Egyptian dish, it should reflect that style. (For reference, menemen doesn’t involve hard-boiled eggs.)
Unfortunately, we won’t be returning for now. I completely understand that service issues can happen during an opening week, but the poor flavour and preparation of the food were disappointing.
I wish you success and hope these points help you make the improvements needed for Eggstatic...
Read moreMy wife and I really enjoyed the food and the wait staff was very friendly and pleasant. Nothing personal against them but it seems like they had their wires crossed amongst each other. I had gotten up to use the restroom while waiting for my order and in the meantime a server comes and tells my wife, "oh, you switched tables!" That surprised my wife as we were sitting at our assigned table where we were seated at by the staff. She informed her that we did not switch seats and I think that's when the trouble started. When you go to most breakfast places, usually the coffee comes first. Ours didn't come until we had finished our meals. A new couple came and sat beside us. They got their coffee right away. Then, when the bill came, we noticed that we were being charged the other couple's bill. We informed the server and she corrected it. We look at the bill again and realize they didn't charge us for the appetizer we had. We're honest people so we informed her again and she corrected it. We finally paid and got out of there confused as to what went wrong as the food was so good. Not the end of the world, but still, some...
Read moreWe ordered four items from the menu to enjoy Halal brunch. Middle Eastern and Mediterranean options along side staple waffles and pancakes was very interesting. Fasha, Smoked Salmon Benny, Smoked Salmon Sandwich and Lahm Ajin. Two dishes were really cooked well and presented well when brought to the table. Fasha was really tasty and a good choice to order. Shredded beef in tomatoes sauce was flavourful but not overly spicy. A nice balance of tomatoes and herds. Smoked Salmon Beny was done well .it's presentation was very good. Potatoes were fresh and tasty. Smoked Salmon Sandwich got just an okay. Its presentation was not good either. Lahm Ajin was presented well but the crust was difficult to eat. The crust was soggy and under cooked. I could not lift the slice because the crust was soggy and pomegrant sauce was sticky and lastly meat would fall off the crust. However, the meat was tasty, so I really liked the...
