We made a reservation for four adults for dinner on a weeknight, opting for the outdoor patio seating. The patio was lively, and definitely the place to be if you're looking to soak up the boardwalk energy right by the lake. We were seated right away thanks to our reservation (which we made just one day in advance). I'd highly recommend booking ahead if you're planning to go — the walk-ins seemed to be waiting a while.

Our server was friendly and came by enough, considering how busy the place was. We got the whipped feta dip and the pull-apart garlic loaf to start. The whipped feta was hands-down the star of the night — creamy, tangy, and packed with flavor. We all agreed we could’ve eaten double the amount. The only downside was that it came with just four small crostini, which wasn’t nearly enough for the amount of dip provided. The garlic loaf was tasty, but the portion was on the small side for the price.

For mains, we ordered the burrata pasta, shrimp scampi, and fish & chips. I had the burrata pasta — portion size was generous, but it was lacking in flavor. Not bad, just not particularly memorable. My partner had the shrimp scampi, and while he wasn’t into it at first, it started to grow on him by the end. Still, he mentioned it could’ve used a bit more seasoning or brightness. Our other dining companions felt similarly about their dishes — nothing was terrible, but nothing really stood out either. Definitely more on the average side.

The interior of the restaurant was just as busy as the patio, so clearly it's a popular spot — likely thanks to its prime location on the lake and boardwalk. The bathrooms were clean.

Overall, the atmosphere was vibrant, service was solid, and the location can’t be beat. When it comes to the food, apart from the whipped feta, it didn’t quite hit the mark. Worth a visit for the vibe, but if you’re going strictly for a memorable meal, you might leave...

I found the Boathouse restaurant last year and was so happy we did. We went there 6 times last year and loved it every time. As the food and the service were fantastic. We went on Sunday to celebrate a night out we made a reservation and when we got there we were seated at the only table that had no umbrellas and had the sun directly on us on 30 degree day. There were two empty tables in the shade and I asked if we could move to one of those tables and we were told that we could not. 5 minutes later a walk-in who we saw when we first arrived was seated at the table in the shade. Strange that the better table was reserved for walk-ins. I had planned to have a beer and appetizers when we were heading to the restaurant but since we were seated in the hot sun I opted for water and a main course only, so I could get out of the heat as quickly as possible. Thank goodness I ordered very little. My daughter had the kids pizza and it came out quickly which was nice except it was undercooked and the cheese was barley melted. It was pretty gross. I had the steak special and it had a rotten taste to it. It was probably on special because it was going rotten. I didn’t complain because at that point I was so sweaty from sitting in the he direct sun and just wanted to get out of there. We then went next door to their ice cream store in hopes of cooling off. My daughter and I got an ice cream each. The ice cream was awful, it was way to sweet. Not like the ice cream we ate at the same place last year which was very good. We ate less than a quarter of the ice cream and threw them both out. All and all a horrible experience. On a positive note the service was really good our server was really nice and cute with...

In all of the years we’ve lived in Oakville I’ve never been spoken to and disrespected by a restaurant the way I was by the Manager at Bronte Boathouse this evening. My sister is visiting from New York City and we wanted to bring her to Bronte Boathouse to experience having dinner by the water. We had two separate reservations for four guests (8 people in total) for outside. We called on Saturday morning and asked if they would be able to combine our two tables. They indicated that they would try their best, but that it would also be helpful if we added a note to our online reservation. We both updated our reservations with this request. I then called again a couple of hours before to see if they were able to combine our reservations. The Manager came on the phone and before even saying hello he said he would not be able to accommodate our request. Despite all of our requests, they had placed one of our groups at a high-top table and the other at a low table. I asked if this had been planned before I called in yesterday and he said that they assigned the tables today. They obviously made no attempt to accommodate our request. The Manager was beyond rude on the phone. He actually said “oh my god your not listening to me” during our conversation. I have NEVER witnessed such poor customer service from a manager at a restaurant in my life. We have lived in Oakville for 17 years and have enjoyed supporting many of Catch Hospitality restaurants over the years. We are shocked and disappointed by this unacceptable treatment. #BronteBoathouse #catchhospitalitygroup...

Was very eager to try this place as a few friends had visited this patio multiple times but the experience was a bit meh. I made a reservation for my husband’s birthday, and we were seated right away. Our waiter introduced herself and took our drink and appetizer order. We were getting bit by mosquitos so I requested with another staff member if they could move us by the fence, which she said she would try and she did eventually, which we greatly appreciated. The drinks were good and we ordered fish tacos for appetizers, and those were good but the battered fish turned out to be exactly the same as the fish & chips main that my husband ordered. It would’ve been nice to be warned that those would be similar when our waiter had come back to take our mains order. The mains took a long time to arrive. I got the Kashmiri seared Atlantic salmon - the actual salmon piece was amazing and flavourful but the rest of the dish was really simple - they serve it on a bed of plain white basmati rice with a white sauce and asparagus. We didn’t order any dessert but enjoyed the sunset view which was gorgeous. The waiter let us know that we didn’t have a limit to our seating and we could stay as long as we wanted. I had informed the restaurant in my reservation notes that we were celebrating a birthday, so it would’ve been nice to acknowledge that but that wasn’t done. Overall, it was satisfactory but not anything mind blowing. I would say try it out, but I may or may not come back a second time.

We arrived 10 minutes before our 5:00 pm reservation for 9, but there was a queue, so we didn’t get to our table until about 10 minutes after. The TouchBistro reservation website states that strollers aren’t allowed on the patio, but when we arrived, we were told they aren’t allowed indoors either. I hope they update the website to reflect this, as it was such a hassle to bring the twins and all their things into the restaurant without a stroller. The usher/server who took us to our table walked so quickly that by the time we made it inside with our 1.5 year old twins, we had already lost her. Another server then stopped us from bringing the stroller inside, and we had to explain again that we only needed a moment to settle the kids into their high chairs before my husband would take the stroller back to our car, which wasn’t very close to the restaurant, by the way. Drinks and food were very good, but our mains didn’t arrive until around 6:10. By 6:35, when we were finally ready for dessert, our server reminded us that we only had the table until 7:00 pm. After such a long wait for food, that felt a little rushed. All in all, the food and drinks were enjoyable, but the stroller policy, pacing and timing made the experience stressful. Thankfully, we ended the evening at Duckies next door, which had great ice cream, was kid-friendly, and not too crowded, a nice way to finish the night.
