Big Beefie's Jerk Shack — Restaurant in Ontario

I love this little shack.

First time there I tried a Jamaican patty which to be honest I wasn’t big on. There was nothing wrong with it, I just am not huge on pastries.

I also ordered the jerk chicken. It was cooked perfectly and was pretty good.

When I was there I saw a couple of customers come in and they all ordered Jerk Pork. I never had jerk pork but if everyone ordered it I figured it has to be good. I came in a couple weeks later and tried it out. I was amazing!!

Last summer I went to Jerk fest and tried jerk pork from multiple vendors. Some of them were really good, but in my opinion Beefies was the best!

I was craving jerk pork today so I came in and had some and it was even better than I remembered. Lots of sauce (though next time I am going to ask for more because I am one of those people who like lots and lots of sauce. Just to be clear they did not cheap out on sauce). It has a really nice bite to it. I like spicey food so I thought it was perfect. For those not huge on spicey, this spice is a sharp bite then goes away. It is not a slow burn and it doesn’t linger for too long,

I think I am going to take my old lady on a picnic this weekend. We will stop in to beefies. I was told to try a jerk chicken wrap and rum cake, so that’s what I am getting for the picnic. I also really want to try the oxtail. I have had oxtail before at other places (only a couple of times), but I can’t wait to taste what Big Beefie can do.

Also the service was great. Beefie is always friendly and is fun...

We tried this place for the first time today and I was very excited. I heard the food was good and the people were nice so I had to see what it was about. My brother picked it up on his way home and as much as I wanted to say something positive about the food, the price was way too expensive for what you get. I ordered the jerk burger which is $15 so you'd assume at that price would be a gourmet burger but it's just a little regular sized burger with a bunch of fries. The fries would be fine and average if they weren't overcooked and soggy because they had absorbed the fryer oil and the burger was under done and pink in the middle. After eating a couple of the fries I ended up dumping them in the trash because they simply weren't edible and tasted awful. The burger DID taste good but unfortunately wasn't cooked properly and was rather mushy because it was still partially raw. I really wanted to like this place and the owners seem really nice but I don't think I'll be back, really disappointing quality.

Updated Nov. 2025: I appreciate the invite back but at the end of the day I shouldn't have to come back a second time for a proper meal; all food leaving your kitchen should be up to quality standards. If I'm in the area one day I may try it again to see if you've improved, keep in mind not every customer can come back so first impressions are everything which is why consistent quality is...

I ended up in this town when I flew here by mistake, wanting to go to the London in the UK, but as I was here for my two week holiday I thought I'd make the most of it. I saw the Jerk Shack and came here hoping for a massage and something extra as the name of the place implies. I was a bit freaked out when I saw the person doing the jerking was a bloke, as I'm not into that sort of thing, so I kept my mouth shut and went for a sandwich instead and it was delicious.
