I come here quite often and the food and drinks are top notch. Almost everything is made in house. I would probably frequent them even more often if they had indoor seating, but the atmosphere is lovely nonetheless.
The staff are very inviting and friendly, especially the OG staff, but there are some inconsistencies in the drinks and food where I find newer staff are still learning and could perhaps benefit from some additional training.
During this visit I ordered the Spanish latte and knafeh cookie. The Spanish latte is my go to drink, but I did find it a bit off this time. Delicious nonetheless, just a little bitter compared to the usual. Previously I’ve had the strawberry matcha and the mango matcha, and while both are amazing, I think the mango matcha is especially delicious and unique, so I would recommend that to everyone!
The cookies are so delicious, but again, I’ve noticed sometimes they can be a bit over baked. I also noticed the price has increased to $5 per cookie, which is quite expensive given the size, and for that price I would like to see some more consistency. It’s disappointing when you spend that much on a cookie and it doesn’t quite measure up. I actually hyped the cookies up to some friends and we all visited together but it ended up being one of the occasions where they were over baked. Overall, I think I’ve tried all the cookie flavours, though they do rotate, but the knafeh cookie is my favourite and the gooey centre is...
Read moreThe cookies are out of this world. The sandwiches are pretty good too. I only have one issue with Browned Cafe: the wait. Every time I go, someone is making coffee and taking care of orders, while someone else is doing other tasks such as cleaning and rolling cookie dough. The issue is, even when there are about 10 people waiting (and it’s a small store with very limited seating), the second clerk will still continue doing whatever it is that they are doing and not take orders, while the line keeps growing. Sometimes a flavour is not available and they will kindly offer you to make it fresh for you—but they only ask you this after you have already waited 10-15 minutes just to place your order! I get that everything is homemade and takes a lot of attention to detail, and I get not rushing to take orders when there are only one or two customers in, but the drinks take forever if they are made one at a time and if no one else is taking orders in the meanwhile, you can find yourself waiting 15 or 20 minutes just to get a cookie—or worse, just to hear, “Um do you want to wait 10 minutes for this flavour?”. Especially in a plaza with a super busy parking lot, with hardly any place to wait inside (and outside is not an option right now), it makes sense to have the other clerk stop what they are doing and continue taking orders as customers come in. Hopefully this suggestion will be helpful—it is the only...
Read moreWas craving these cookies for a few days after hearing about this place. Bought a bunch for a picknick.
Kinderful Cookie (7.4/10). Fresh and warm. Kinder Surprise chips in the cookie which was unique. Not necessarily my thing, but interesting.
Snickerdoodle (7.1/10). Also warm and fresh. Maybe a little dry.
The next group of 4 cookies were dry and potentially overcooked which was disappointing:
Milk Chocolate Chip (6.9/10). Had good flavour, but wasn't as fresh as it could've been.
Brownie Cookie (6.3/10). Dry. Flavour held it up, but was ultimately disappointing.
Pistachio Brownie Cookie (6.1/10). Dry even with a filling. Again unique and interesting flavour which holds up the score.
Salted Caramel (7.9/10). Messy, but as advertised it was their best cookie. Was actually warm and fresh and somewhat met the hype.
The size of these cookies and the price of $5-6 isn't worth it for a couple unique flavours. I had some cookies the night before from McDonald's and they were...
