We recently travelled to London for a basketball tournament. I had booked an end of season team dinner for 40 people at Crabby Joe's in around March, for our May tournament (2 - 3 months in advance)! I had anticipated that it was going to be busy from other teams and it was Mother's Day weekend, so I wanted to plan ahead. When booking, they mentioned that they would try to put us in the library, so that we could all chat and socialize. GREAT! When we arrived it was a different story! We discovered that they only had one long table for us and four separate large booths. All the parents were disappointed because we don't get to socialize a lot during the regular season, and it was going to be a good way to finish it. How were we supposed to talk when we are all separated by booths? Of course we left the long table for the team and some of the parents took the remaining seats. We might as well have booked our own tables at separate restaurants. We didn't have to dine here to eat their mediocre food.
When I asked the hostess about our reservation, she was super sweet (Shanece) and tried to look into it for me. She turned to the "Manager" to ask about it and his response with his back turned was, "You can't possibly sit 40 people together at a restaurant, it's impossible"! I couldn't believe how rude he was, and how he could treat customers like that. I was immediately offended! This "Manager" responded to me like he was doing us a favour by allowing us to come into his restaurant. Shanece had explained to me that they received a reservation for 53 people, and they needed to put them in the library. I understand you need to seat parties where it's convenient and efficient for the restaurant, but you can't split up a group of 40 into booths. The restaurant was big enough that they could've easily set up two long tables for us in a different area. As well they could've given me a courtesy call to inform me ahead of time that I wasn't going to be in the library, since I booked TWO MONTHS AHEAD! They knew it was for a team dinner. Then I could've decided if it was still worth it for our team to go there, or to look for another place. Not surprised after arriving.
Long story short, the parents walked around a little bit to talk to each other, but it definitely wasn't the same. The food took a long time to come out for some people at the long table, and the families sitting in the booths had already finished their meals. Needless to say it made for a long evening for the people waiting for us. The food was terrible as well. We ordered the steak fajitas (medium rare), and of course it came out well done! By this point, I wasn't surprised. I didn't even bother sending it back, because it would've taken that much longer to get a new order brought out to us.
Not once did the "Manager" come to our table to apologize or offer each family a complimentary dessert or SOMETHING to try and make up for the inconvenience. In fact when I walked by him to go to the washroom, he even avoided eye contact with me. Who am I trying to kid... his arrogant self probably didn't even notice.
As we were leaving, I asked for his card and asked if that rude person was the manager. To my shock, it was the OWNER!!!!!! That is laughable at how an owner can be that arrogant to think that he can treat his customers like they SHOULD be dining in his restaurant, instead of thanking them for their business. He should take some etiquette lessons from his staff! He must not need the business, because that's how he acted. I definitely wish we took our business elsewhere!
In summary the service by the owner specifically was more than TERRIBLE and the food was mediocre at best (I'm being kind)!
DON'T BOTHER WITH THIS PLACE... THEY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY! NOT SURE I WOULD EVEN TRY ANOTHER CRABBY JOE'S! I GUESS THE NAME FITS THE RESTAURANT! JUST...
Read moreMe and my family went to this location on Friday for half appetizers. When we got there, the gentleman took our order, but first took our order for our drinks, when we had placed our order for our food, we had to wait almost 30-40 mins for our food. I had ordered the steak bites and the chicken quesadillas. When everyone’s order came to the table, I received my steak bites that were not even hot, but a little warm but a bit on the colder side, when I realized I did not get my quesadillas, I asked the waiter. He looked at me as if he never knew what I was talking about. And everyone at my table had said that I did order the quesadilla so he says I’ll be right back waited for about 10 minutes comes back with my quesadillas at this point my steak bikes are actually really cold not worth eating. Near the end of the night, the waiter came and asked if he can remove some plates that were not being used anymore and we said yes But he took it upon himself and took my nieces plate that still had food on it, and did not even ask her if she still wanted it. The plate was not empty. Her plate was still filled with the spinach dip and the pita bread. At that point, she may have had one piece out of it and he took it without her noticing so when she brought it to his attention, all he kept saying is * I’m sorry I didn’t know. I thought you were finished.* she then said that she wasn’t it was still full. He looked at her like he didn’t know what else to do, She had asked him for a new spinach dip plate and he did bring it. The point of this review is you guys need to do better! No waiter or waitress should be picking up anybody’s plate with food still on it a full Without asking if the Customer is done with it, and I only thought they only pick up plates that are completely empty. Overall, I’ve had a really bad experience that night And I personally don’t think I’ll be back! P.s I would have wrote a review Friday, but I’ve been extremely busy so I had a...
Read moreUpdate: Crabby Joe’s reached out within 24 hours. Will update further after connecting with them.
Thursday February 27th went to this Crabby Joe’s in downtown London, Ontario for a late dinner. I ordered the “chicken quinoa power bowl,” but asked for salmon instead of chicken since I don’t eat chicken.
FOOD The salmon was so dried out it turned to crumbs while trying to eat it and appeared as if it had been old & reheated as it had a leathery look to it.
The avocado was starting to rot and was brown on the inner section so it tasted bad as a result.
SERVICE When I told the waitress that the avocado was bad and showed her the brown all over it, instead of saying sorry I was given a rotten avocado and taking my plate to fix it, she asked me what I wanted to do. She asked if I wanted to pick the rotten avocado out of my bowl or if she should take my bowl. At that point I was pretty frusterated with the food and was on a 2nd date with someone so told the waitress she could choose. She came back to the table with puréed avocado in a plastic condiment cup, saying all they had was guacamole.
I paid over $30 for this salad and it was one of the worst salads I’ve had and not a very good reaction from the server.
Based on the poor quality food and the restaurant’s reaction or lack of reaction to the food, I will not be returning...
