Eli’s Trackside Restaurant has had the good fortune of being one of two restaurants in Chatham located alongside the Canadian Pacific Railway!
After going to church, my wife and I sat down for a homemade style meal at the 41-year-old breakfast/lunch service provider on Queen Street. Again, I ordered the Sunday Special - Schinkel’s 7-ounce Smoked Pork Chop featuring two Sunnyside-up eggs, home fries with an upgrade for Gluten-Free Toast and coffee. Avec Pièce de Résistance condiment: Frank’s Hot Sauce.
When our waitress delivered my plate, the Schinkel’s Gourmet Meats’ Smoked Pork Chop blew my mind! I can’t imagine it was really only 7-ounces, it must have been at least 9-Ounces!
So why didn’t I take a picture of the first serving……Pure Greed on my part…. I just couldn’t help but dive right into the beautifully grilled delicacy.
As we left the restaurant, ringing in my head was the owner’s reply to my selfish inquiry about how frequently does the Schinkel’s Smoked Pork Chop appear as a Special….. About a Couple Times a Month…. A Couple Times a Month….couple times….

Read moreWent in today had the hot Turkey and fries with soup. The soup was amazing! The hot turkey not so much at all...the gravy wasnt even turkey...the gravy and the turkey had an off flavor...when we told the waitress she went back and told the owner as I was walking up to pay...no apology from the owner and not even some money off the bill as we returned over half the food...so 32 bucks down the drain!!! Worked in culinary all my life and I have never served something and not take the criticism and apologize and refund some of the cost...if ur customers are not happy you do something to make them want to come back...I would feel bad being an owner and letting my customers have have to leave...
Read moreMy first experience was with my wife and I. We went there and was told by the owner/hostess to sit anywhere. We sat, placed our order and waited. The meals came out and my order was messed up by being short 2 eggs. Halfway done my meal the eggs came and she just flipped them over on my plate, the wrong side in a disgusted manner. They were even half cooked! The only upside to that visit was the chef came out who was a lot more pleasant and chatted with us a bit. Today I decided against all reason to give it a second shot and the visit lasted less than 5 minutes. This time she was quite rude towards me, a visible minority, and I just had to look at my wife to know we didn't feel...
