First let me start by saying that I go to a Jimmy the Greek weekly in a city outside of London. I have always been impressed by the quality of the food and the amount of food that you receive. I wanted to treat a friend to this so I suggested getting this for dinner. I was SO SO SO disappointed by this location. Everything seemed to be soaking in water. The chicken souvlaki was soaking in water; the potatoes were soaking in water (and completely flavourless). The salad was not only on the skimpy side in terms of portion but it was almost ALL lettuce. I had 3 olives and two tomatoes and a tiny sprinkle of feta. I understand that these are the more expensive ingredients but I don't expect to pay $12.00 for iceberg lettuce!
Next, the portion of rice was tiny compared to what I get in Hamilton and the rice here was completely flavourless. In Hamilton they usually put on a red sauce and I asked about it and then the person pointed it out... it looked like it had been sitting for literally the whole day. It looked so dried and crusted I just told her to skip it.
So... I treated my friend -- our two meals were just under $24 and I honestly feel ripped off. For that price I could have gone to Swiss Chalet and gotten the family special which is a whole chicken and four sides. Had the food been delicious I would not have minded spending that kind of money -- but it was not. My advice is -- if you are used to other locations -- skip this one -- you will be sorely...
Read moreWhile on a shopping excursion, a friend and I decided to hit up 'Jimmy the Greek' at Masonville Mall after first looking at their set-up.
The first thing we noticed was how crisp the lettuce appeared, and fresh the tomatoes were. We decided they passed the test, and ordered the shrimp salad.
Rather than a plate and at our request, we had take-away boxes. The boxes were filled to the limit with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, a bit of dressing and of course -- cheese.
I ordered a side of potatoes, as they looked delicious.
We paid, took our things into the food court, and began to eat. Everything tasted very fresh, including the shrimp which I found surprising! My only turn-off to the food was that the potatoes were absolutely swimming in butter. That said, they tasted amazing.
Another downer, which I don't believe is the responsibility of the staff at 'Jimmy the Greek' but rather the staff of Masonville on a whole?? Was that the majority of the tables desperately needed to be wiped down. It took a bit of searching to find one that was clean enough for my friend and I to want to...
Read moreI would like you to imagine for a moment a severely crowded mall with 30 different fast food nooks surrounding you as your in the middle of Masonville Mall food court London. WHAT DO I DO?!..WHERE DO I GO?!..WHAT DO I EAT?!. Look no further than Jimmy the Greek. A family owned business in London with five star cuisine. I took photos of my Lamb dinner. It was served in a styrofoam container that closed. I thought chef Rames made it. The lamb fell off the bone. The rice was steamed perfectly and the greek salad was to die for. I couldn't believe the quality of the food. It was hot and very flavorful. The thing I appreciated was that you can see them cook everything. The five who were working, were like a factory assembly line, they were that efficient. While we had our dinner 68 people were served. I be making Jimmy the Greek in Masonville Mall an often stop for my culinary palate. One lamb dinner is all it will take and you'll be hooked. Tanks Jimmy..your amazing. Luv Malcom💪😎💙Stay...
