I'm sorry, but I simply cannot give credit to this particular Popeyes. In 20 years, I've never experienced a Popeyes this bad—neither in America nor Germany. I've had consistently bad experiences with Cornwall's Popeyes since the day they had opened. It's not a 1⭐, but it's not far off, and here is why I rated it 2⭐, in my own opinion:
There isn't a single fountain drink that I like in there and they do not serve sweet tea like they did in Missouri, America (even the U.S. military base in Würzburg, Germany, had sweet tea). I also don't get why Dr. Pepper doesn't seem to exist as a fountain drink at most/all of these fast food places here in Cornwall. Is there a Dr. Pepper shortage in Cornwall?
Staff is either okay or unfriendly. Tonight especially, I couldn't stand the attitude of that female server (who worked after 6pm) who refused to look at me throughout the ordering process and instead smirked off into the distance. She had a "I hate this job and anyone who comes through these doors" attitude. I even asked her if she was ready to take my order, and she said "Yep" while still refusing to make any eye contact (What, am I ugly or something?). I ended up being the one to say "Have a nice evening!", while she only went "mhm".
The grease is unreal in this particular location. While I managed to eat 2 Popcorn shrimp combos in Cape Giradeau, Missouri (the best Popeyes I had) with 0 acid reflux or any problems afterwards, finishing a single order of fries at this one is enough to make me run for antacid tablets. Even the worst Popeyes I knew before—an establishment that refused to change oil for weeks—wasn't as greasy as this Cornwall's Popeyes in particular. How is that food THIS greasy?! Is it directly injected into the food, or is it the type of oil they're using?
No sweet tea, no Dr. Pepper at the soda fountain, poor service, shockingly greasy food—it's by far the worst Popeyes I had been to in 20 years.
PS: It's not that I can't handle fried foods anymore, I've been going to Dairy Queens here once about every other week, it's seriously just this one particular Cornwall Popeyes location that gives me problems. It's just that I really miss eating at Popeyes since my move to Canada, but sadly can't find any within my area besides this subpar one...
UPDATE: After eating partially through my meal (there was even a hair strand in my chicken), I've decided to never eat at the Popeyes here again. Like I had predicted, I had to swallow an antacid tablet after the eating the fries alone. I do not believe that I'll finish all of my spicy chicken tenders this time around—it's THIS greasy. I have a feeling that my cholesterol level would sky-rocket at this particular establishment if I continue eating there, which is why I simply cannot recommend it (the Popeyes at Cornwall) to anyone—this Cornwall one is by far the greasiest fast food restaurant I had ever been to (not just Popeyes, but all of the fast food chains I had tried) and I genuinely fear for people's health. Even a large pepperoni pizza from Pizza Hut doesn't give an acid reflux as bad as eating from this particular Popeyes. If your nurse practitioner or doctor tells you that you have high cholesterol, I highly recommend that you stop visiting the Popeyes at this location. I love Popeyes food, I had ever since I was a child, and it's the first time I was introduced to shrimp, so it really hurts me to say that I cannot visit the Popeyes closest to me, but my health is more important to me than my nostalgia (granted, eating fast food isn't good for one's health, but this location is going too far, even for me). Please, Popeyes, fix the restaurant in...
Read moreWent there last Saturday night around 8 pm Saturday and was a little young lady I think Indian descent girl that was at the counter super polite super serviceable sold us the family meal and some chicken wings and we also bought four drinks. She told us about the special on four drinks for $6 so we went for that. We left there, went to eat it and it was delicious. Service was like I said impeccable food was warm. It was tasty and I would definitely recommend going there. This was the location in Cornwall and like I said the staff there was super friendly. That kind of professional ...you know you go places nowadays and it's not like that anymore. This place managed to keep it high standard and you know you don't feel like you're walking into a place ran by a bunch of children. They're actually disciplined and professional and respectful and polite. So yeah service was great. Food was great. Price was okay. I mean you know you're getting a good chicken so you want to pay for something good. I would recommend going there. We drove an hour to go eat there and it's definitely worth it. If it was 2 hours away I would drive 2 hours. This place is definitely worth it. I recommend it to anybody go. Try it now. There's also a little biscuits and gravy there are sides. We had french fries. We had mashed potatoes ohhh the mashed potatoes. I mean you got to try the mashed potatoes. Fries are awesome. You know some places to fries really suck...not this place. Had really really good fries too but the mashed potatoes were also awesome. I would definitely recommend the mashed potatoes as a side. And yeah they had all the drinks they had on napkins we got in the bag. Everything was there. It was utensils and straws and you know I mean it was really a excellent, excellent place. So this was a place in Cornwall. I don't know if all Popeyes are like that but the Popeyes in Cornwall Popeyes chicken Cornwall my friends you will try that out. You won't reread it. Listen to me. I'm a living proof here so you know...non deniable, you got to go try it get up right now. Go drive. It's a nice drive. We took a drive like an hour. It was so cool. So do it do it life is short you never know. Go have that Popeye's chicken. It's amazing! Look it up on your Google maps or gps something would type in Popeyes near me and it'll give you an address and you go there. If you really want the amazing service though the one in Cornwall, Ontario. They have amazing service there. Read moreI love Popeye's but this location had the slowest and the most unprofessional service ever.... Paid 66$ for 16 pieces of chicken (no sides, no drinks) and a 12 nugget combo.Pure profit!!!! As the manager, he should of informed me about the family special which included 10 pieces with all the trimmings for 35$ I would of gotten 2 of those! 20min later and witnessing a dozen other customers getting their order before us, we confronted him and the staff about why is our order not ready.. He kept repeating that they were serving other orders... Yes, fine, but what about our order? We only had chicken and no sides! And my husband saw multiple times them taking out baskets of chicken and placing them on the heating tray to be served, so......what was the staff's excuse? Just admit it if you forgot our order, it's fine, nobody's perfect.... We've been in the restaurant business since our early teens, we know how it can happen, but please don't try to embarrass us in front of everyone! To top it all off, when they FINALLY gave us the order, I started to double check to see if everything was there. Doesn't the "Worst Manager/restaurant worker" ask me to move over that way he could take more orders from the next customer? LOL, was he joking? I told him, in a really loud voice, "NO, they can wait like we had to wait!" That clearly pissed him off which made all of this worth the 66$ for 16 chicken pieces and a 12 nugget combo! I am truly disappointed in this specific franchise located in Cornwall, Ontario. As a Montrealer, we have no choice but to drive an hour to the closest Popeye's... But from now on, I will drive that extra hour to get to our favorite Popeye's in Nepean, Ontario where we have a great relationship with the staff there! I highly suggest that Popeye's Canada should re evaluate the Cornwall franchise because they are giving them a bad name! AND just because you can afford a franchise doesn't mean you have the class to work there. Very, very...
