Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen — Restaurant in Ontario

On the evening of April 27th, 2023 we ordered two #1 "Platters" from the overhead menu. They were chicken sandwiches.

The "platter" option says it includes 2 sides, a biscuit and a drink, but when our order arrived the biscuits were missing.

I asked for our missing biscuits and was told that because we ordered sandwiches we don't get biscuits. I studied the overhead menu, assuming I missed the fine print or asterisk stipulating that sandwiches don't come with biscuits, but there was no such into.

In fact, the more I examined the more it seemed pretty clear that we'd been ripped off. Each meal clearly had the option for "combo" (i forget if this was the actual name) or "platter" and the sandwiches had these options.

Above it listed what is included with the "platter" and biscuit was absolutely there. Nowhere did it say anything about excluding this item when purchasing a sandwich. The menu definitely said with no uncertainty that our meals included biscuits.

I was far too exhausted and famished to argue, and the manager had already made it clear that she was not giving us her biscuits so I let it go.

I realize these are $0.99 biscuits and I really didn't care much at the time, but it is frustrating to be mislead and I feel that we were ripped off. It is infuriating to know that you are correct yet have no recourse.

I considered submitting my concern on the survey link from our receipt, but it is much more cathartic and satisfying to warn others of this scam on Google reviews.

I also live 624 km away, so I have no interest in calling to get this resolved and I will never be back.

I've met my lifetime quota for typing the word "biscuits" now so I'm done my rant.

Biscuits.

Ok so anyone that knows me KNOWS that popeyes is my favorite fast food. So I have go be critical when it comes to this joint. Service at front counter is hit and miss. Most of the time they'll lazily walk up to you and take your order while the other employees just mope around but whatever that's fine.

The food. Ok so I'm a big tender guy and I've had them many many times. And they're inconsistent. I've ordered delivery many teens and when it gets delivered I've been amazed and disappointed. Sometimes you'll get 5 skinny over breaded sticks of chicken sometimes they give you 5 fat pieces with maybe a 6th thrown in. It's inconsistent. So that knocks a few points off.

I've never personally had under cooked food from here but ik it happens at this location. But I have had over cooked or old chicken given to me. When I bite into my food I don't want it to be a battle. I've had a lot of tough chicken from here and honestly it's bad. So I might have to start asking for fresh chicken from now on

Sides are good mostly. Fries are always seasoned well and always get a good portion. Never had a problem with mashed or slaw. Mac n cheese though. 0/10. You get so little mac n cheese and it's not even good. It's awful. Just spare yourself. Onion rings are ok. They're usually kinda soggy. Just get fries or mashed.

Stores always clean when I go in so that's a plus

Really awful. Our last order was totally wrong. We got the wrong drinks, we got the wrong pieces, there was no sauce for our tenders, and in place of fries, we received extra tenders. It's almost as if they don't have to do anything right because there's only one Popeyes in town. The problem is that my patronage isn't charity.

For those still considering eating at this Popeyes, here's a tip: make sure to ask for your chicken to be extra crispy or well-done. Like others have mentioned here, we've also had our share of undercooked chicken from this location (especially when you get the sandwich). But if I'm being honest, skip this location. Considering how brazenly bad the quality at this location is, imagine all the things we can't see that's happening behind the scenes. Skip it.

Edit: I want to add, we did an online order at this location recently. And as soon as I walked in, the manager greeted me with my name without introducing myself. I know, I have my photo in my profile, but still super creepy to let me know you remember both my name and my face. That being said... the order was well made. So if you're considering leaving a bad review, lol, just you might be creeped out a bit. But the chicken will taste better for sure. 1 star...
