. This was my second time the first time I went the food was dry and terrible that I thought I would give it a sec/..ond chance what I got was a similar experience. The beef dip I got was more bread than meat. The sauce was oily thin and was a waste. We were a table of 6 given a long table where we all faced the bar. Socializing with each other gave us neck cramps. The sushi was crusty and overcooked, how do you screw up rice. The chicken burgers were dry and seemed like texture with seasoning on it. My wife and I had. One main the beef dip, two apps, overcooked sushi and the calamari plate. The calamari came beautifully arranged and the plate was bursting with seafood. I gleefully went at it only to discover at most 4-5 actual pieces of calamari while the rest of the plate was battered sliced onion and a few vegetables. The waitress was the only reason I didnt make a scene, she was very friendly and the only redeeming aspect of our meal. We were asked about our meal by the manager but I held back from saying anything to not make a scene with all my family there. As a family we rarely get together but this was a special occasion. What I learned from these two experiences is that I’m totally done with chain restaurants that put all their money into profit and making the place look nice but give so little effort into the quality of the food. The food LOOKS amazing, presentation is 5/5, but it’s supposed to be actual food. One main dish , two apps a soda and one boozy drink came to $96. I will forever stick with the downtown core restaurants where the actual owner is there making sure your happy. Downtown is where you get real food. It might cost the same but I’m cool with it if it’s worth it, State and main is NOT worth it...

I just came to this restaurant for the first time last night and left very disappointed. The only reason why I'm not giving one star is because our server was very good and tried to make the best of a bad situation!
We had a reservation and when we arrived and was sat down, the table was still dirty, when we got our drinks, two of our party ordered coffee and came out cold and tasted old. When I got my appetizer, I received no cutlery, and had to wait quite some time before our server came to the table to check up on it.
When our entres came in, they were very staggered and without cutlery again. Making things awkward for everyone.
We were given only 2 sets of cutlery for a party of 6 so we had to share the sets we were given. Later, we were given 2 more forks but no knives, so we had to continue to see who needed the knives the most and share. 3 of us ordered steak so it was a bit tricky for sure!
The meals weren't great. Portion sizes were a bit small. The greens on some were wilted. The steaks had a lot of gristle and the knives (when they arrived) were dull and difficult to cut.
But the time we actually were able to eat together, food was cold.
Overall, other than the service, the experience was more stressful than anything else. I asked if this was a common occurrence and apparently lack of cutlery does happen from time to time there. I will note that the restaurant was not very busy at the time. My recommendation to the restaurant is perhaps purchase more sets of cutlery to avoid such happenings so the poor servers don't have to make excuses and become...
Read moreI usually don’t like to go out for dinner and order a steak, as I’ve always had problems getting my steak and having to return it. I ordered a steak tonight from this restaurant and I couldn’t believe how delicious it was. It was melt in my mouth and I didn’t have to send it back. The atmosphere was amazing, the presentation was even better and our server made me feel like I was so important. Trista was our server and she was amazing and very attentive to our needs. I worked in this industry for 30 years and she reminded me of me when I started out. She’s a natural, and so sweet. She treated us all with the utmost respect and kindness. I have a restaurant that I was faithful to and they just shut down last Sunday and I loved it but unfortunately they closed down. I didn’t know where to go? So this was my first time going to state and main and It sure won’t be the last. I think me and my friends will definitely be back. I think I’ve found my new favourite restaurant to go to and I hate to admit it but I think you guys are actually better than my ex favourite restaurant lol. I can’t believe I’m saying this but I think I’ve found my favourite restaurant now. Oh and I loved the fact that the manager came to our table and introduced herself. Thank you for a fantastic dinner and it was also my birthday and I think everyone that was working tonight wished me a happy birthday. I felt so important and I really enjoyed everything. I look forward to coming back and try Everything on your menu. Thanks so much for a great...
