Attracted to the personality, stayed for the food. Finally eating Shelby's was like a dream come true to my friends and I, we were grateful it was open so late! By the time we finally crossed the border into Canada, we knew we were ready.
I tried the traditional shawarma wrap, the Shelby's wrap, the shawarma bowl, and the churros. Shelby's was the first shawarma joint to ever have me order twice in the same night to have some left over. For my foodies who love leftovers, the wrap is still great the morning after and even a few hours after it was made (It was still warm!)
The wrap melts in your mouth the moment you bite into it and you can feel all the flavours meld together. The spicy garlic provides the perfect kick that I didn't even need anymore! When paired with pomegranate molasses, it's the perfect blend of savoury.
I recommend this to eaters who are looking to upgrade from your traditional lazeez and osmow's, there's so much more love and personality behind the food and the servers. From the cashier, to the cooks, to the founders themselves, they represent the blend of food that touches your tongue. They're passionate, humourous, and consistent with the inside jokes they share with their community. The food may be the main star, but the brand itself tells you how much Shelby's cares about their 'habby peoble'! :) I'm so grateful for the locations in Downtown Toronto, they carry the same flavour and love no matter how far they are...
Read moreI have personally been to the location inside 2x first time was okay i had the falafel wrap which was good, and the chicken bites which was meh, i thought maybe its just me, i went a second tjme. The second time the chicken shawarma was fresh but the chicken is over spiced, sometimes less is best and is really rare coming from someone who is middle eastern. I also got the fatoush whoch was flavourless, the halouni cheese was a rip off, and the knafa wasnt sweet enough but it was good
Tonight i had my little brother stop by to get me a knafa from there. He said it took 10 min to prepare it, which okay i get it they’re probably made and frozen, so they heat it in a oven, he said that he waited at the drive through for a female employee to just put the food at the window, and while hr waited for some one to just hand him the food, he seen an employee take out the trash to the dumpster. The employee that took the trash out, walked back in, picked up the bowl and tried handing it to him without washing his hands after taking out the trash. Which honestly is disgusting, what if that same employee doesn’t wash his hand after taking out trash and touches food.
I loved the media videos for this place and maybe the main location in London is running great with the owner, but this franchise is meh...
Read moreShelby’s Shawarma on Huron Church in Windsor was a delightful oasis after a long drive through the U.S. and weeks of underwhelming, unseasoned meals. Tucked into a small corner, this cozy spot surprised us with its incredible flavors and efficient service.
The staff were friendly, attentive, and clearly knew how to run things smoothly. Despite the restaurant’s modest size and limited seating, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The food was prepared promptly and exceeded our expectations in both taste and quality.
We ordered two wraps—one with regular garlic and one with spicy garlic—and a side of fattoush salad. Each bite was a flavorful explosion, perfectly seasoned and wonderfully fresh. The garlic sauces were divine, with the spicy option providing just the right kick. The fattoush salad was crisp, tangy, and a refreshing complement to the wraps.
It’s clear that Shelby’s pays close attention to the details that make a meal truly memorable. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this spot is a must-visit for authentic, delicious shawarma. We left satisfied, happy, and already planning our next visit. Shelby’s is a gem that deserves every one of...
