Smoke 'N' Barrel Kingston — Restaurant in Ontario

Tommy and his crew did my daughters wedding. we were astonished at the level or professionalism his crew and he provided. The food was simply delicious, the finger foods to start seemed endless and extremely tasteful. They kept us informed from day one to the end of the evening. The main meal was again outstanding and did not waver is taste. Smoke n Barrel made the event an extreme success and every one was full with 0 complaints. We will be using them again for every event we have.. Thank you greatly Tommy and a well done to your crew.. this was before they showed true colours. Make sure if you book them that you follow up with a phone call. They will use no email return excuses to canceling your event even after proving you email them cause they got a better gig. Word dosent mean much. As a business owner I would pick up the phone and call my customer.. like I see on Google everywhere if I could give no star I would be. Many people booked into event cause they gave thier word they would be there, and they were aware of the date changes.. horrible. I want to make sure the main issue here is not missed.. the food was awesome. your staff sent an email , and proof was provided that a reply was sent.. at no time did your staff pick up the phone to call and clarify after being booked and confirmed.. COVID lets not for get that..as an owner of a business if someone wants something and i do not get an email reply within a couple days i follow up to make sure that i do not order in product with out verbal confirmation.. your staff rebooked and did not follow up, my goodness you even received proof that you were sent an email in reply. at the end of the day for me it will never happen again.. ill have my view on what happened and ill tell anyone the same thing. follow up by...

We finally decided to take a stab at trying Smoke N Barrel as we love authentic BBQ.

We ordered the brisket, ribs, pulled pork, mac & cheese, corn bread, and had a Caesar and margarita to drink. The brisket was dry and didn't have much flavor. The ribs had the membrane still attached, which I understand this is a different method of cooking them but take it off before serving it to the guest as you can't eat it. ( my wife was right turn off by it) Again not much flavor. The pulled pork wasnt that bad but once again not much flavor. It seems like alot of these meats depend on sauce to add the flavor and that doesn't make for great barbecue. Not one of these meats even had a smoke ring but unfortunately when you use a Southern pride as your smoker it doesn't give that authentic smoked meat look or flavor. The mac & cheese was awful! The cheese tasted like it came out of a can, we each had 2 bites and pushed it to the side. The corn bread was the winner of the night for us which doesn't say much for a BBQ joint. It was moist, warm and slightly sweet.

In the drinks department, the Ceasar was ok , but if you love magaritas on the rocks like my wife does do not get one! all she could say is it tasted watered down and I would have to agree. $10 is a bit steep for a watered down drink..

so all in all for $70+ tip it was unfortunately a big let down and I have no problem paying that amount of money if it was great food. On the plus side, Service was great! waitress was lovely no problems there, just seems like the flavor profile of the food needs more work and some love...

I'm in trouble now for a couple reasons.

I've recently moved back to Kingston and brought my Kiwi fiance with me. There's a place in Christchurch I'm sure I've reviewed here called Smokey T's that I miss immensely!

I'm in trouble because it's taken me months to bring my lady here and we absolutely LOVED it!! ❤️

It may have been our first time but definitely will not be our last. My fiance had the Gangsta Wrap and was blown away by the idea of the mac n cheese in her wrap, then equally blown away by how incredible it tasted and it was damn good! I had the Brisket Dip myself and yummy barely describes it.

Our server was incredible and we thought she was worried and almost offended that my partner had to share my jus, (which added to her wrap), and she quickly brought a seperate jus out for her. There wasn't much left of either, but we did feel that a dish consisting of your Mac n cheese, just sitting in a bowl of jus would have been devine! 😍

It's nice to have a place that we can comfortably go to and know the food and service will be fantastic and we can't wait to return. Well done to our server for making only her second Long Island Ice tea ever. Was very tasty. 😁👍

I didn't get our servers name but she was great and seemed to be everywhere and serving everyone. Having worked as a server and bartender myself, I appreciate how pleasant and efficient she was. We were in late morning on Sunday Sept 21 if that helps to pass on any accolades. She deserves them! ☺️
