This is our favourite sushi place in London!!! ♥️ We are so happy to have a place so close to home that we'll walk in the rain and snow just to have their food. The owner is such a sweet and kind lady, who will always greet you with a smile! 😊 We usually order to go since it's a take out place but we dined in for the first time on Monday and it was as delicious as always. It only has two seats facing their window (so happy the window is back!) that faces Richmond St so it's a cute view and feels very intimate when you get to be the only ones sitting inside. We got complimentary miso soup and gyoza as well and we appreciated it so much! 🥰 🍣 The quality of the sushi is always fresh, and the portions are generous and proportionate - both with the rice vs filling ratio, and also with the fish vs other fillings ratio. Some sushi places will fill their rolls with more veggies than fish, but Umiya always makes sure it's more fish to veggies or equal parts. The roll feels balanced with the ingredients that are supposed to go in each roll as well! Lastly, I love that they offer half rolls of the special rolls. It's such a great option when you don't want to have another full roll but you really want a special roll. I always get the Crispy Spicy Salmon Classic Roll + a half roll of Philly, and my partner will get the Crispy Spicy Tuna Classic Roll + a half roll of Red Dragon. Their spicy mayo is so good! And the ratio of cream cheese to salmon in the Philly is perfect. My partner's also tried their Fire Lips Special Roll and they would highly recommend it to people who like spicy! 🔥 We have nothing but amazing things to say about this place and hope it's here for a long time. Every now and then we'll go to a different sushi place because we like trying new places, and we always compare it to Umiya. 10/10 best sushi in London! ✨ Don't miss out!!!

For a late afternoon dinner today, I went to UMIYA Sushi. I ordered a couple milk drinks and three special rolls. One was banana-flavoured and the other, taro-flavoured. They came in little juice boxes. Both were great. Moving on, a chicken teriyaki, Flying Ruby, and Fire Lips were the rolls. I believe the last two are exclusive to and were created by Umiya. But be warned: the Fire Lips is SPICY. The spice is from jalapeno peppers, sriracha, and hot chili sauce. It was oddly cooler in temperature than the other two. The Ruby had many ingredients, both on top and in the center. Toppings were tobiko fish eggs, spicy mayo, and hot sauce; inside were deep fried shrimp, avocado, cucumber, crab, and tamago. A complementary miso soup that I wasn’t even aware of also showed up. The only criticism I would give is the rolls fell apart easily. Everything else was impeccable. Before I left, I felt compelled to try another milk drink. This was coffee-flavoured and I loved it just as much. Inside, it is tight. But you are allowed to sit down if the chairs are free. You get a nice view of cars passing by on Richmond St. The owners won me over with their friendly presence. They gave me a box for my leftovers and a second pair of chopsticks. I showed my appreciation with a tip.

I ordered from Skip the dishes and I regret it. The Miso soup smells like mushrooms and urine. It has a very odd smell and flavour to it. I had to throw it away. It is also much darker than regular Miso soup! It was Brown for some reason. There wasn’t any seaweed or tofu in it either, just the soup. The actual sushi is exactly like the cheap mall sushi. Absolutely horrendous! The ginger that comes with it is pale instead of pink. They gave me two packets of tiny Kikkoman soy sauce for 12 pieces of sushi and a tiny dot of wasabi. Why so cheap? Throw in a few more soy sauce packets, why don’t ya? Beyond me how they got these rave reviews. Not a step above mall sushi, except the mall sushi has better Miso soup. Not urine/mushroom smelling Miso Soup. Terrible and I am never coming back.

I have been dining at Umiya Sushi for several weeks now, and it has become a regular destination for me and my coworker. I cannot express enough how impressed I am with the exceptional customer service and top-notch food quality we have consistently experienced here.

From the moment we walk in, the staff goes above and beyond to make us feel welcome and ensure we have an enjoyable experience. Staff are attentive, friendly, and always ready to offer recommendations or answer any questions we have about the menu.

They strike the perfect balance, providing generous portions without compromising on quality. Every sushi roll we've ordered has been expertly crafted, with fresh, high-quality ingredients that burst with flavour in every bite. The attention to detail in the presentation is also commendable; each plate is a work of art.

One of the best things about this sushi spot is the affordability. Given the exceptional quality and the delightful sushi experience it offers, the prices are incredibly reasonable. It's refreshing to find a place that doesn't sacrifice on taste or service, even with such wallet-friendly prices.

Whether you're a sushi aficionado or someone looking to try sushi for the first time, I highly recommend this spot. The ambiance is cozy and inviting. The combination of exceptional customer service, outstanding food quality, generous portions, and affordable prices makes it a true gem in downtown London.

I can confidently say that this sushi spot has earned its place as my go-to restaurant. I look forward to many more delightful meals and memorable experiences here. If you're craving sushi, don't hesitate to pay them a visit. You won't be...

Went here today for the second time. The first time, my girlfriend had a salmon sashimi salad that was absolutely delish, but I didn't want to leave a review because I didn't have anything myself. Luckily, today I fixed that.

I had 6 spicy salmon rolls and 6 salmon/avocado rolls. Yes, I have a favourite fish! The salmon was fresh and bursting with flavour. One of the biggest issues I've had with sushi restaurants is how they can sometimes "hide" the fish behind other ingredients, to the point that it seems like the "roll" is the food and the sushi itself is an afterthought. Not so with Umiya. The fish was front and centre, and it deserved to be! The other ingredients were of equivalent quality, but they served as a delightful accent to the flavour of the salmon itself.

The woman behind the counter (who I assumed to be the owner) was so, so sweet and made me feel welcome. She brought me a miso soup on the house and was delightfully cheerful. Combined with Umiya's bright and clean interior, the overall feeling of my lunch was extremely positive.

I would wholeheartedly recommend Umiya to any sushi lover, especially if (like me) some of the other sushi restaurants in London are too pricey for your tastes. Umiya blows just about every other place I've tried completely out of the water, even places that I've heard others praise (looking at you Plaza Sushi), and they do it without charging...
