Decided on this place for a Sunday lunch, since it was right by Covent market. We arrived by 1pm and surprisingly only one table was occupied. What I liked was that their menu had unique sandwich options that ranged from Vietnamese to Moroccan. They also offered a to make your sandwich into a salad. However, they really lacked much vegetarian options, as they only had one veg sandwich. The soup of the day was either a chicken one or a vegetarian tomato soup. My brother is a vegetarian, so he asked for the veg sandwich and the soup, but surprisingly, despite it being only 1pm and not very crowded, they had run out of the tomato soup. So he had to settle for the sandwich on its own, which according to him was good, but not that filling on its own. I got the bahn mi inspired sandwich made into a salad, which was nothing special, however the chicken in it was pretty tasty as they used the dark meat of the chicken rather than the typical healthy choice of using the white meat. Overall, the service was good, since we were greeted with smiles and friendly service, but the food was...
Read moreFirst time here. Let’s start with the good. The flavours are really good. We ordered the steak sandwich and their version of the the chicken banh mi. We were going to get sides but having seen the very small bowl of fries pass us to a go to a table for $6.00 we decided to pass (what is with many places charging high prices for a singular cooked potato?)
Here is why this gets a lower rating. Size. Most of the bulk of the sandwich is from toppings.
The steak sandwich really isn’t. It was a thin cutlet literally less than a centimetre thick. We wondered why we weren’t asked how we wanted the steak cooked. We now know why. Well done is the only option for this style of meat.
The chicken was thicker pieces but we’re sparse. It wasn’t uncommon to be eating bites with just bun and toppings. The banh mi would have benefited from the veggies being pickled.
The bread was very good and tasted home made which was great
I would much rather oh $15.00 instead of the 12.50 per sandwich charged for real steak and more chicken. Again the flavours are top notch. Back it up...
Read moreI always drive by this place to park my car for work in the mornings. I thought it was a casual sandwich shop, but I was pleasantly surprised. It is a nice sit down restaurant. My favorite part was seeing the open kitchen. You can see the ceramic pots filled with soup and the rich cuts of meat.
I decided to eat lunch here on a cold and rainy day. I picked a table and sat down. The waitress was very attentive! I had no idea what to order because everything looked good! I had a cup of tomato soup, which was rich in flavor and warmed me up! For a sandwich, I decided on the take on a bahn mi sandwich. The chicken was grilled to perfection, the pickled vegetables had a nice pop of acid, and that mayo was rich and creamy. The bread was soft and absorbed all that delicious flavor. The waitress was super friendly and the service was excellent.
I can’t wait to bring my husband there! I was also impressed that they are open for dinner. I would...
