I had the pleasure of visiting Casa Manioca & Caramelly Pastry here in London, Ontario, and I can honestly say it was one of the most delightful food experiences I’ve had in a long time. I actually went because a friend of mine works here, and I’m so glad they introduced me to this hidden gem—it truly feels like a slice of Brazil right in the city.

The first thing that stood out to me was the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff are incredibly friendly and take time to explain the different Brazilian snacks and desserts, which was very helpful since some of the items were new to me. You can really feel the passion behind the food, and that makes the whole experience even more special.

I asked for 6 coxinhas, the woman working said there was a deal for 8. I double checked that they would be all coxinhas. She said yes, a mix of cheese, chicken and beef. I am a gringa so I didn’t know coxinhas only come with chicken. They were actually a mix of, coxinhas, bolinha de queijo, risoles de carne. I went back and the woman immediately said (before I had a chance to speak), “what did I do wrong?” Her presence was not friendly and she made me feel small and like I had done something wrong. My wife is Brazilian and I was trying to get her a bunch of coxinhas, the large ones. I felt like I was taken advantage of for being a gringa. Too bad for them that I do speak a bit of Portuguese 😂Lol. Went to this mall as I was visiting the city. This Brazilian bakery has the perfect combination of the best Brazilian treats: cakes, brigadeiros, and savories. I tried this chocolate cake filed with a white chocolate mousse... "absolutely delicious!" Perfect balance between sweet and moisture. Their "Pão de Queijo" (cheese bread) comes with melted cheese on top, which makes this snack unique. The owners are Brazilian and just opened their front store in this mall! If you want to try a popular Brazilian snack and delicious and fresh cakes and brigadeiros, you should come to their store.
