Sherry's Diner — Restaurant in Oshawa

The google rating is not even remotely representative of the quality of this establishment. I ordered the “Big Breakfast” menu item, but all I was served was a big disappointment. Here are some notable things you should know:

The scrambled eggs tasted as if they came out of a carton. They had this bad, synthetic taste to them. Moreover, there wasn’t a drop of seasoning on them. Not even a dash of salt or pepper.

The “fried potatoes” that came with the dish were certainly not fried. Another review indicated they were bland “lukewarm boiled potatoes” and I couldn’t agree more. No seasoning either.

The pancakes weren’t cooked fully. You would expect to receive some nice, fluffy pancakes but instead the pancakes internally were runny.

The bacon was probably the lowest quality on the market. I couldn’t even finish one piece.

The sausages and ham were similarly of poor quality. Moreover, the ham was absolutely covered in grease.

They couldn’t even be bothered to splurge and get Heinz ketchup. Instead, it’s the budget kind that just doesn’t taste as good.

The one saving grace was the rye toast with butter. It’s pretty hard to mess up toast with butter and I’ll give them credit where credit is due.

All in all, it was the worst breakfast I’ve ever had. There was no seasoning on anything.

I would not go back and I would not recommend this establishment to anyone. I think it is criminal this place has a 4.3...

Do not sit by the window! We thought we were lucky to find that seat unoccupied and later realised it was free because you are constantly forgotten.

It took us about 15 minutes to order, and like 30 minutes more to get our food (people that arrived after us, but sat away from the window were served first). The place is actually very nice, but when food arrived (and oh boy, we were hungry!! We would eat anything by now), it was a great disappointment... 😔

No flavour... I wondered if they cooked scrambled eggs and then froze them in batches just to be reheated before serving because they tasted like that. My kid's chicken fingers definitively went through that process.

Cups of coffee are rather small, so I finished my coffee as I was starting to eat my food, but the lady with coffees only came to fill my cup as I was paying 🥲

Lastly, it took like 20 more minutes to get my bill. I asked (every time I was able to make eye contact with our waiter or she passed by) FOUR times for it, and every time she would smile to me and would say she would come to our table shortly, but 5 minutes later I had to remind her again and well... 20 minutes later, I finally received my bill.

We travelled to Markham (from Ottawa) for a hockey tournament and were hoping to eat something "homier", but I would rather eat at a McDonalds than at this...

Went here with my two year old son to meet a friend who had just had a baby. My son and I arrived first, I grabbed a booth and was working on messaging my friend to let her know we had arrived, as well as getting my son situated. The waitress came almost immediately and told me my son's shoes needed to come off because they just replaced the booth coverings. He was sin the booth with me because he doesn't sit in a high chair anymore. I felt this was really unsanitary but in an effort to just get through the lunch without my son having a meltdown, I did. Not two minutes later she returned to take our drink order. I requested a water and a chocolate milk for my son. She responded with "are you sure you want to give your son that this early". It was 11:15am. He and I were having a mom and son day.. I was doing something special for him. I confirmed, yes I want a chocolate milk. When it came to my food order, I asked for a grilled cheese and fries for my son and a western sandwich with a side salad for me. Everything came, expect for my side salad. Waitress was more focused on my friend who is a regular there.

Based on my experience, I would say this restaurant is not family friendly, felt judged for what I wanted to feed my child, etc. Food was mediocre at best, no seasoning on literally anything. My family and I will...
