Bank Shawarma & Poutine — Restaurant in Ottawa

I have tried several shawarma spots across Ottawa, and after having discovered this one, I can confidently say that to me this is the best place out of them all by far! Didn’t pay attention to the price change, maybe they did rise, but so they did everywhere else. And while some others also reduce portion sizes, here portions seem to get even bigger. Plates are just so huge, it usually takes me 3 goes to finish it. Love the rice, chicken is great, not too dry like what I’ve usually experienced elsewhere, garlic potatoes are just something, especially if you top it up with that garlic sauce. And the salad. That dressing that you, guys, add to the veggies is AMAZING! Never change it, please! The only request I have is, if you could maybe, just maaaaybe, not add those new spices to the rice? I only ask because I remember they were not there before, and, let’s just say, their flavor is just too strong to everyone’s liking. Anyways, great place, great food. I am sorry that somebody might’ve had bad experience and therefore had their impression ruined, but it definitely deserves another chance. I’ve ordered 10+ times already, and so far I can say only positive things. Brought Chicken Shawarma, the quantity added has dropped significantly, and after asking for more, they added more but at the time of paying he said it was extra charge. Never had this done before, I never had to ask for more chicken either.

I guess it was my badluck that I got my order taken from him, but not everyone is like that.

Edit: The portion sizes have normalized and increased (only asked for generous portion and am more than satisfied), no issues there. However, there are something that needs to be changed. Hygiene is all time low now. I have no idea something (I think peice of wrapper) was in the veggies and the server noticed it 100%, but didn't care to remove it and went on to ask the next thing to ads but when I pointed out he removed it (not cool I shouldn't be doing this). Then, when he was wrapping it, his finger got into the wrap because of the hole on the bread (Nooo). I guess they need to start enforcing gloves and step it up. I saw some of the servers are pro, but unfortunately, I had a newbie helping me out and felt like my order was experimented on.

Dropped by and visited today to try the food. It was disappointing.

Ordered a donair wrap and walked in as they were preparing it. The donair meat wasn't fresh and they just microwaved it in a bowl. Not sure how old it was but overall the wrap didn't smell the best. The short guy making the sandwich was also very careless serving sandwiches that had broken pita ? Well the wrap itself was broken in many places so maybe the pita was old or he just didn't care and handled it carelessly causing it to break everywhere.

Overall taste was average, not entirely bad besides smelling a but off but not good, just ok.

Staff wasnt really friendly, not rude but they don't really acknowledge you or give good service either. Just ignored me until 5 minutes later when they asked what order I'm waiting for. A smile and a how are you, how can I help you goes a long way.

Overall, a disappointing experience. Was expecting much better given the reviews but this time it was a let down. May try it again sometime.
