Biagio’s Italian Kitchen is a restaurant that I have been meaning to try for some time. The service is very attentive and I did not want for anything.
I started with a refreshing non alcoholic fruity drink And I must admit that the vodka would make this drink taste so much better. However, the non alcoholic version suited me just fine.
The soup of the day was delicious roasted tomato, red pepper with a hint of fennel. I have tried a few of the daily soups and am never disappointed.
The Prosciutto Pear and Brie appetizer is very satisfying, in fact one can not go wrong with any of the appetizers. We have tried them all and loved every single one of them.
The pasta lunch version is just the right portion size that you are not going to be heading back to the office wanting a cat nap.
The sandwiches are reasonably priced and look delicious.
The cappuccino's steamed milk is perfectly whipped and the foam sits like a cloud on top of the esspresso-based coffee. It is also served with an amaretto cookie. In fact the brewed drip coffee is excellent here as well.
I have tried the flourless cake and it has a certain deliciousness about it. The cake is fluffy, creamy and slightly filling because of the hazelnuts and not anymore filling than the cheesecake.
The Tiramisu is light and airy yet the lady fingers still stay firm and hold their shape.
This place also serves Fish and Chips on Friday only (under gourmet sandwiches section). It is something that the regulars are very aware of, and a regular did recommend that I come back and try it.
I was very pleased to see that the staff is very big on cleanliness, as each table is wiped down along with the seats....very impressive.
The restaurant is quite nice with modern decor booths and interesting artwork to enjoy.
The downstairs is available for rental. I have attended several functions and had a wonderful time. The room is exceptionally well-laid-out and creates a very smooth and ideal flow for socializing.
There is also a patio however there seems to be a lot of sun. We chose to sit inside to and were glad that we did. The restaurant was quite pleasantly cooled by the air conditioning which made our dining experience that much more enjoyable.
The regulars there are very friendly, social and helpful. This restaurant caters to an older crowd. So if you are looking for a trendy, young and hip crowd with music blaring out of the speakers then you should chose to dine somewhere else.
I have found the staff both knowledgeable and pleasant. When there was an issue, I did speak with the owner who was very grateful for the feedback and addressed my concerns right away.
There is also a private secluded room great for business meetings. It provides a lot of privacy because it is at the the entrance of Biagios. The bar separates this room before you step into the main dining area.
Biagios only receives four (4) stars because I found the pasta dishes lacked seasoning and therefore tasted a little on the bland side.
I would like to come back and try try their lasagna and possibly the dinner and wine special...
Read moreI was meeting friends for dinner at Biagio's after having moved to BC 6 years ago. I had eaten here once before years ago. They chose the place because it was a favorite place of theirs. Biagio's has quite a large space to accommodate large groups. When I arrived my friends were already seated and into their drinks. I was taken to the table by a friendly waitress who seemed to know my friends. They ordered their usual meal and since I love lasagna thats what i ordered. We were presented with some lovely white buns warmed, sliced not all the way through that had drizzled olive oil over the top of the bun and sprinkled what seemed to be thyme. Yumm. The buns were devoured quickly. Shortly after dinner arrived. An attendant came by to ask if we wanted cheese on our pasta. She was very generous with the parmesan. My lasagna portion was a fair size with lots of tomato sauce around it and a slice of crusty bread on the side. The meal was hot in temperature and very tasty. The glass of red wine I was drinking complemented the meal beautifuly. During the meal we were visited frequently checking on how we were enjoying the meal and did we require more drinks. After our meal dessert was offered and while I was too full to think of dessert the others ordered two slices of cheesecake with caramel and ( I think pecans) to go. It was a very lovely evening with lots of laughs and catching up. Time flew by so quickly. We were there well after they closed at 9pm. As a matter of fact I have two other dinner meet-ups this week at Biagio's. That's how much I liked and enjoyed the place, the food and the...
Read moreLunch at Biagio's on Fridays has been a treat with one exception. Our booth was comfortable and our server was attentive and polite. The atmosphere however was loud and disturbing from a group table set against the back wall. We had to raise our voices to be heard from across the table and in order to speak to our server. There were only about 6-8 other diners at the booths near us. My salmon steak with autumn vegetables was beautifully presented and plentiful. My companion opted for a house pizza which was delicious. Now, back to the group table. It's a pity that the large east facing window is not available to diners. It may, however, be a solution to the distracting noise level. If the group table was positioned there with one end against the window sill and the other pointing into the room, you may find an improvement in the amount of noise bouncing off the rear wall into the rest of the dining room. It would, in fact, be reduced by half, and be more limited to the far side of the room away from the booths. This could potentially allow diners in the booths to carry on a normal conversation and address the server without raising our/their voices to uncomfortable levels. We'll give it some time before returning for lunch. I'm surprised that there are so few diners for Friday lunch; the space seems to be underutilized and would feel more inviting if more diners were present. I hope this happens since your chef and server may be encouraged by more.
Thank You. John...
