St. Louis Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Ottawa

I really wish I could fall in love with this place because we thoroughly participate in their wing night on Tuesdays - and we go there 2-3 times a month for it. But every time we go there we always expect at least one thing to go wrong. It's become a game for us to try and make it fun. Expecting a flawless dining experience is not possible. It's hard to describe... its just an extremely weirdly managed place. There can be more staff present (always 2 managers) in the restaurant than customers; but I guarantee you it will take at least 10 minutes for them to bring your initial drinks to you after ordering. I clock it and the current average is 12 minutes. This really bothers me in particular because I literally watch my poured beer (slowly getting warmer) sit at the bar every time until someone decides to eventually bring it to me. Also we order the same flavors of wings every week and sometimes it burns our mouths off, and sometimes its just right. We asked why and they said its dependent on the cook. You have to ask for any relevant sport to be put on the TVs because nobody their is on top of it. All of that aside we keep coming back because we love their wing night... but I would be genuinely upset...

Covid Takeout: Greeted by friendly and pleasant staff when we phone ordered takeout for pickup.

We don't order out much (every few months) but we had a craving for chicken waffles. We ordered poutine as our side. I'll start by saying that my wife loved the fries. The poutine was sad; the gravy is served in a side cup and there were 3 or 4 cheese curds sitting next to the fries. The chicken waffle was served as a sandwhich which we didn't like or expect. The waffles had plenty of candied sugar(?) which made them taste like eating refined sugar. The chicken "tenders" were dry, chewy and innedible in sandwhich format since our front teeth couldn't tear them apart while in the waffles. The whole chicken and waffle was dry and relatively tasteless. I cannot recommend this meal. It was an expensive $39.00 meal that we simply did not enjoy. I classify our meal as eddible but not enjoyable.

I haven't tried any of there other food so this rating is solely based on my personnal take-out experience with the chicken waffle with a side poutine.

2 star rating: 1 star for the meal but an extra star for a very pleasant young woman who answered the phone and got us our order...

The place is nice, but I've been at this location 2 times in 3 years. First time for wings, food was OK but not great wings were a bit dry and small compared to other places I usually go to. Service was also just average. Not many reasons to come back to be honest.

But I had to come back after 3 years for a birthday dinner, sorry to say but again... Food was average, my friends chicken was not fully cooked, service was awful, flavor was just average, orders were all mixed up and some friends got their food when we were almost about to leave. I ordered onion rings with my food and they brought fries, when I let them know the answer was "so what do you want me to do?"... Lol, I could only smile and eat what I had so it doesn't take again a long time for the replacement order... A lot more order prep errors with other people from my group too, not just my opinion but many people in my group were not happy with service.

Hopefully it's not the same for everyone else...
