My husband expressed a craving for nothing less than a good shawarma and some garlic potatoes so we found ourselves at Chez Shawarma based on an Orleans FB page & members recommendations. Two of us ordered the large chicken shawarma sandwich and the other a large falafel sandwich with a side of large garlic potatoes, and a small tub of garlic dip as well as a tub of tabbouleh. The place was just hopping as the staff hurried to fill orders. It only took a few minutes before we received our order and headed home. I had to cut my sandwich in half because it was too much food combined with a small serving of potatoes and tabbouleh! My husband made the sandwich & potatoes lathered in garlic sauce disappear in a flash, and my vegetarian daughter quietly consumed every last bit of her falafel sandwich. We were very happy with our meal. We did note that we almost didn't get our potatoes, so it was good we kept a eye on the packing of our order. We also noted another customer had showed up before us and placed a large order that was for about 20 people. It was good of CS to accommodate the guy, but it did put a dent on the other walk-in orders that had to wait behind him for them to prepare all of his sandwiches, salad, potatoes, etc. Larger orders should be called in advance. We also agree with another person's comment about the oil the potatoes are cooked in. Its leaving a bit of an off taste, that was covered off by some salt & the garlic sauce, but left alone was not great flavour. Possibly the seasoning? We will...
Read moreWe were regulars here for years, going back to their Shawarma Prince days. It would not be uncommon for us to eat here twice a week. I found they always excelled in two areas:
Well I previously visited this place when it was Prince Gourmet. Many family platters ordered for many occasions. Had not had a need for a while to order an family platter but required one today. So automatically I thought hey never had an issue let me go back even though it is now called Chez Shawarma. Worst decision I made regarding food in a while. Ordered the mixed family platter; it was the most bland, tasteless and unseasoned meal. Chicken was was so pale no char and no seasoning likewise the beef had no seasoning. Potatoes were cold and tasteless just potatoes thrown in a fryer. There are many other Shawarma places in Orleans please try any of those instead of this place as it cannot get worst than here, you can only do better. No more...
