We stopped by on the recommendation of a local business.
The poutine is very good the fries are fresh cut everyday. It is made with a tasty mushroom gravy and St. Albert's cheese curds. The curds are softly melted like a marshmallow and the fries are plump and crispy (just as any good poutine should be). This poutine puts some of our Québec casse-crôute spots to shame. If you haven't tried the poutine yet, I strongly recommend that you do.
The burgers are prepared by Produce Depot and are then frozen. They are fresh off the grill and do not sit under a warming lamp.
I started with my poutine because the burger needed to cool down a little. I have never had a burger that warm before. It was nice because my burger was the right temperature and not cold when I devoured it. The burger was ok (it can't be compared to homemade) yet very good for a chip stand.
The milk shakes are yummy goodness and are made with the soft serve ice cream. We opted to have ours without any syrup added and it is delicious all on its own.
The owners are Asian and also serve up Chinese food, so something very original. A chip stand that offers Chinese as well.
There are picnic tables out back a few booths inside. There is also a playstucture outside, to keep the kids busy.
This is a family owned restaurant and has been in business since 2004.
The decor is limited yet the pleasant service, food and clean washrooms make up for it. I can hardly wait to come back and try the Chinese food.
Update:
The fish and chips are good and the fries are nice and crispy. The Pollack is nicely cooked flavourful and flaky.
The crispy chicken burger also got a thumbs up.
The Chinese food is quite good. The Chicken Balls are crispy with loads of chicken inside and are made in house.
The eggrolls are very good on the two occaissions that we tried them.
The Shrimp Mixed Vegetables is delicious with nice plump sized shrimp.
I did enjoy the Imperial Chicken also.
The multiple combo plates are a good value and the only downside is I'm not a fan of the chicken fried rice (my mother's favorite dish to order along with the garlic spareribs, at the once upon a time, Maro Polo Restaurant).
I really wish that they had a noodle option or skip the rice altogether and offer an extra eggroll.
The regulars have mentioned that the General Tao Chicken is worth a try.
I look forward to trying the Almond Chicken Soo Guy with that spectacular...
Read moreGreat portions for price. Amazing taste! The staff was super friendly and helpful with dietary needs as well, offering many suggestions for options available for us, and thoroughly explained how the texture/consistency of the dish would change when made gluten free. Packed well for takeout with no messes.
We had wonton soup, a General Tao combo, lemon chicken and they were happy to customize a gluten free Shrimp Chop Suey order as well.
Two children under 5 shared the chop suey dish and have another portion each leftover and loved it! My husband had the General tao combo and said it was great! His smart*ss rates it a 19/21. He was able to save a small amount for later, but found that difficult because it was so good. I was impressed with 4 good sized wontons and 3 nice little slices of pork in a single bowl of soup, really flavourful, with some crisp left to the cabbage in there too. I stole the egg roll from my husbands combo and that too was so good! I ate less than half of my lemon chicken order, and look forward to the rest tomorrow! I am glad I took the advise of so many of my neighbours to try this place! I can already tell this will be a go to spot...
Read moreBeen coming here for many years and tried most things on the menu. They have been consistent for the most part. They have a pretty good selection of dishes both chinese and canadian. They also offer ice cream and shakes. The turnaround time for a typical food order is about 10-15 mins whether you call ahead or order in person which is pretty fast in my opinion compaired to other places offering similar food choices. The staff is also friendly and courteous at all times and make sure your order is correct as they repeat it for you, something alot of places don't do but wish they did. Prices are average for Canadian food but the Chinese food has gotten a bit pricey though. I ordered one of the lunch specias which includes chicken fried rice / General Tao chicken and an egg roll plus a drink. Food was good and they go for $12.85 plus tax! I just find it a bit ridiculous that they charge a fee to put the GT sauce on the side instead of the chicken. They may be trying to compensate for the price of the small Styrofoam container, who knows. Won't stop me from coming...
