I was suggested this place by Uber Eats. Reviews looked decent so I decided to give it a try. Im a big fan of a good wonton soup and love me a good dumpling. I decided to try the soup and the pork and chive dumplings. The first frustration I ran into was when selecting the dumplings, you have to choose between how you would like them cooked; either pan fried, steamed, boiled etc. I chose pan fried and was frustrated to see that this option was an extra $1 charge. I selected steamed instead and saw this also came with a $1 charge. Like, I have to pay an extra $1 to have my food cooked? What if I declined to pay this, do the dumplings then come raw? Anyways, I decided to go pan fried after all and after seeing the final price - $18 for 15 dumplings - I thought these are going to be some amazing dumplings. I also added a note to please include a few soy sauce packets. I received my food via uber eats and when I opened the package I was annoyed to see that they only provided me with 1 soy sauce packet. On top of that they provided about 0.25 oz dipping sauce for 15 dumplings. The sauce was used up after 2 dumplings. As for the food itself, the wonton soup lacked any flavor and was basically hot water with some wontons in it. The dumplings were pretty much the same, lacking any flavor especially without having any dipping sauce. The meat in the wontons and dumplings was very fatty and tasted and had the texture of ground beef. Overall not impressed, especially for...
Read moreDocked 1 star for not including spring rolls in our combos as indicated on the menus and 1 star for my "fried" dumplings (which they charged me $1 extra for) not at all being fried (they looked boiled).
We called ahead to order 2 combos, they took my phone number and said it would be a half hour. They never did call, so I don't know whebln the food was prepared, but when I showed up a half hour later the order was ready. Though after walking 3 minutes home, all the food was cold. We re-heated the soups in the microwave first. The hot and sour soup is quite spicy, while the chicken corn was a eggdrop soup that was mild without much taste other than corn, though the included vinegar and hot sauce worked to add flavor. The side of the day that came with our combo was a cucumber dish, which was nice to cool off the hot and sour soup, but had a very strong garlic taste, which was was overpowering relative to the mild corn soup. As for the dumplings, we had a steamed cabbage/pork/shrimp and a "fried" beef/onion, and re-heated the steamed ones in the microwave and the beef ones by frying them, they turned a nice brown color in the pan ( clearly they were not already fried). The dumplings tasted okay, but weren't anything special. I won't be...
Read moreme and my husband had wanted to try this place for a while now and we finally did. very underwhelming. the food was quick to come out but the staff were unfriendly. when we walked in, no one greeted us, let alone looked at us. we didn’t know whether to wait or sit.
the worst part : the dumplings were very dry. the outer skin of the dumplings was too thick and chewy. the meat was not juicy at all and i found a few pieces of hard cartilage. we’re so disappointed. to top it off, it costed a whopping 70 bucks !! for only 3 orders of dumplings.
if you want good dumplings, go to sammi and soupe dumplings in byward market. their dumplings are delicious. light, juicy, and reasonably priced.
we unfortunately will not be coming...
