Gabriel Pizza — Restaurant in Ottawa

Apologies to all readers for a lengthy review but it will take awhile to fully dissect this experience.

I get perturbed when I have a bad meal. I get very perturbed when I have a bad meal that is also of poor value. I attended this location on Canada Day, and instead of giving their customers a deal for the occasion, they covered their menu board up with unfolded pizza boxes and all slices priced out at the amount of their most expensive slice. Yes, a cheese slice was costing you as much as whatever the loaded up mess of a slice they would usually charge the highest price for. We’re off to a great start.

Ottawa, I cannot believe you have lifted this product up, and with your support, have enabled this brand to operate multiple locations across the city. You are far better than this and your great city deserves a decent local pizza purveyor.

This pizza tastes like something I would have made in Grade 9 home economics class. It is of no overall quality, simply relying on its claim to fame... the massive amount of cheese that is deployed. This however, is also the biggest problem with the product. It does not behave like pizza cheese; it sits there unapologetically in a congealed block, unbrowned, lacking in flavour, and will not string out with each bite as any good pizza should; it just chunks off with each bite. Due to the sheer mass of the cheese, any toppings trapped under remain floppy and lifeless as the cheese serves to insulate them from the heat of the oven, also resulting in a doughy undercooked experience. What then occurs with a bite towards the middle of a slice, is that the whole remaining brick of tasteless cheese slides off clean and you are left with a naked, doughy, raw triangle. Ironically, in this state it has actually improved upon its former self as the sauce is now free from the suffocating blanket of cheese (the sauce being essentially the only mildly redeeming quality of this crude product).

A suggestion for you Gabriel... Ottawa is a Government town, go strike up a contract to take this food to the prison system and inflict it on the incarcerated, because they are the only Canadians who should be subjected to such cruel and...

Pizza is tasty but service at Metcalfe location terrible. My older teen daughter went to order and bring back pizzas to our nearby hotel. Girl at the counter didn’t acknowledge her for about 7 minutes. She was counting money. When my daughter asked when she could place her order she replied “maybe when I’m done counting this money?” In a sarcastic and rude tone. Finally another server stepped up and offered to put the order into the kitchen to get it going at least, while server 1 continued counting money. What a novel idea! They doubled checked to make sure my daughter would actually have the money to pay for the order if they went ahead and got it started. She assured them she did. Turns out in the meantime another customers pizza was burnt and they had to recook a new one for him. Took a long time to finally get the orders. 45 mins for what they said would be 15 mins. Not sure if they really want customers when you wait more than ten minutes to place an order because you have some administrative business to...

I am their regular customer since 2005. This review is about their pizza. I know this restaurant through company 🍕 event. Their price is a few dollar more expansive due to a lot more ingredients for the topping. So it is actually reasonable.

This is no compare to Pizza Hut and Pizza Pizza. They taste much better, and it is the best for 20+ pizza restaurants I have tried in Ottawa and Toronto.

These few years they opened 2 branches in Ottawa downtown. I just tried the one close to Parliament Hills. A large pizza ready in 15 min at 2:15pm. I will expect after peak hour is 30 min. The pizza come out as good as their old restaurants. The staffs are not the old cook, but young employees, but shop is clean, well run, good service, friendly.

Their homepage has the menu and pricing with phone ordering. Nothing high-tech but functional. They are target for low-middle class but Pizza Hut alike market.

I will certainly try again next time and again. It is my favorite. Better...
