My friend and I went to try this place as we were visiting from Toronto. Our Air BNB was across the street so we decided to look for a quick brunch snack. A typical hipster “coffee shop”. It’s located in a plaza that has a grocery store called Grocery. It’s located in an area I can only describe as gentrified. Because of COVID-19 their indoor seating area is closed off. There were patio tables and chairs available outside, but there wasn't anyone cleaning them, so it definitely has to be at your discretion if you trust the cleanliness. They have implemented safety measures like the stickers on the floor and signs on the food display. It definitely has that minimalist vibe that hipsters enjoy. Some items in the glass display had prices, some didn’t. it’d be helpful if it was consistent with all prices listed either by the item or on the menu sign. The barista was pleasant and took her time preparing my tea and getting my brownie ready. Speaking of things that I order, I got a mint tea and one of their brownies. The brownie was so huge. I wasn’t able to finish it. Very decadent and filling. It was a bit off putting that my whole total came back to seven dollars. For that price, I could’ve just went to Starbucks. Actually, I think Starbucks would be cheaper. Anyways, if you’re into the whole “quaint” coffee shops, then this is the place for you. I’m sure you won’t, but when you go, notice how everyone there...
Read moreI think this happy goat could do better with their service. I have been here several times before writing this review. To start with, they are constantly out of cookies. I wonder why they don't just order more...Sometimes the barista is rude (ie. one specific barista who makes conversation with some people but not with others), staff are not attentive of who is in line and who comes next. There is a clear line that forms starting from the cash down to the bar, the same rude barista today served the person on the opposite side of the line who was wearing a suit over me. (I was clearly next in line) This specific aforementioned scenario is not that big of a deal, however, as a visible minority living in the main street area, it's already an unwelcoming environment due to the demographic who live here. (primarily caucasian and not very friendly) My experiences at other Happy Goat locations have been top notch! Plenty of customer interaction and friendly attitudes. This...
Read moreI usually love my experiences at Happy Goat and was excited to try this location with my mom. Unfortunately we had a very unpleasant experience because the barista had stopped our order midway, as well as another customers order to serve a customer (whom they seemed to know very well) before us even though we had all ordered first! It was so obvious too, and I think the other customer waiting noticed. Anyways, I have ordered a lot of coffee in my life and have NEVER experienced that type of confident carelessness. We won’t be back at this location that’s for sure. Good coffee though still, lol, I mean you guys make a good brew, but please, learn to treat the customers better! Especially if you and your friend in this instance are both white passing, and what you are doing is obviously rude, and the customers here are visibly Indigenous women with one being an elder (my mom). It just sends the...
