Café Qui Pense — Restaurant in Ottawa

Great coffee, and treats but quite poor service. Always very slow but traditionally worth it. Today I was told that I couldn’t have a sit down coffee as the coffee shop was closing in 40 minutes and she was in a rush. I took a take out coffee and sat for a bit and the server huffed and puffed around me cleaning and stressed. Clearly wanted me to leave- so awkward, I left.

I chose to return to the Cafe this past Saturday- hoping to just move on from experience above and see if there might be improvement. I was truly floored to be immediately confronted by the same girl, who accused me of lying in this review, and told me I didnt know what was going in her life. The coffee is bragged about by staff but good coffee houses are a dime a dozen. The experience bottomed out when I was told there was no Wi-Fi. They do not know their clientele, I was sitting at table where everyone has a laptop out and their phone to do research and work during their business day. My work came to a stand still. The location is right across from the University and between local high schools, yet they do not offer Wi-Fi. What a missed opportunity. The owner runs a book store attached and accessible from the coffee shop, it has Wi-Fi, but they do not share with paying patrons. Good coffee. Went there before and again today. Arrived at 3:10, ordered with the intention of sitting inside. After my husband ordered, we were informed they closed at 3pm. ( their door was still unlocked when we arrived) We were given paper cups and ordered to leave. Another couple were still inside. They had ordered food and were exiting shortly after us. Had to gobble up their food and then were asked to leave quickly as well. Very poor and disappointing service! Lock your doors when you’re closed or inform your patrons that you’re closing...
