A Wonderful Happy Meal Experience for My Kids (and Me!)

We recently visited this McDonald’s location for a casual lunch outing with our two kids, and it turned out to be such a delightful experience that I felt compelled to share it in a detailed review—especially about the Happy Meal, which truly lived up to its name!

First of all, the Happy Meal is the perfect size and format for young children. It comes neatly packed in a colorful, themed box that immediately grabs kids’ attention. Ours had a “Minions” design on the box, and both kids were so excited just opening it up! You could see the joy on their faces before even taking a bite of the food. That emotional engagement is something I really appreciate—McDonald’s knows how to speak to kids on their level.

Food-wise, the Happy Meal remains a reliable choice. We ordered the Chicken McNuggets meal with apple slices and a small fries on the side. The nuggets were crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and not greasy at all. The portion is just right—not too little, not too much. The fries are classic McDonald’s—golden, warm, and lightly salted. I personally love that they now offer apple slices or yogurt as healthier alternatives. It’s a small gesture, but it gives parents peace of mind.

And let’s talk about the toy inside—that’s always the highlight for the kids. This time, they each got a little Minion figure with movable parts, and they’ve been playing with them ever since. I think McDonald’s does a great job staying up to date with current trends and pop culture, so the toys often align with whatever animated movie is trending at the time. It makes the whole meal feel more like an experience than just fast food.

On the service side, we were pleasantly surprised by how friendly and patient the staff were. The cashier smiled warmly at my kids, took the time to ask if they wanted apple slices or yogurt, and even double-checked to make sure we got the correct toy. You don’t always expect that level of care at a fast-food chain, but it really made us feel welcome.

The restaurant itself was clean and family-friendly, with high chairs, easy access to napkins and ketchup, and a brightly lit, cheerful atmosphere. There was even a small play corner with coloring sheets, which helped keep the kids entertained while we waited.

Lastly, the price point is hard to beat. For just a few dollars, we not only got food that the kids loved, but also a small toy and a great lunchtime memory. As a parent, those little wins are everything.

So if you’re a parent looking for a quick, affordable, and genuinely enjoyable meal option for your kids—Happy Meal is still a champion after all these years. McDonald’s somehow continues to find the right balance between fast food and family fun. We’ll definitely be coming back for another Happy Meal...

Very rude person called ANTONIO KICK US OUT in 3773 Strandherd Dr, Nepean, ON K2J 4B1, Very poor service today. This afternoon at around 9:30 pm, I was waiting forever for someone to take my order and all of the staff chatting without giving any importance not the cashier not any employee as there is no supervisor there? the entire time. I had to go and use the self ordering touch screen kiosk. we ordered for six person and get a table we was waiting for our order forever then we want to add something Bye using the touch screen order a person called Antonio stopped us and he was super rude he ask as to live and to cancel the Order my husband have a Master in hospitality management and was congratulated lots of time for dealing with customer in FOOD AND BEVERAGE management and he knew that always the customer have to be treated as a KING but your ANTONIO employee was super RUDE we did not respond him just we go back at our seat and we stopped eating and we try to leave the restaurant and kept all of our order on that hell restaurant cause we cant eat after he kicked us while we want to add supplement to our order, we went to the door he stopped us and tell us go by this way !by rude screeming we get really mad and said we are not your slave here we make an order and left it on the table we want to ad suplement to our order as a dessert you stopped us and kick us out now we left our food on the table we cannot eat anymore cause of you and you guide us now from where we have to leave? what s this ? HE SAID I HAVE TO KICK YOU OUT AGAIN I AM THE BOSS HERE i CAN KICK YOU OUT ANYTIME BUT I DID NOT KICK YOU OUT AGAIN WHILE I CAN DO IT AM I RIGHT? then i told him please you need a DIPLOMA IN HOSPITALITY TO KNOW HOW TO DEAL WITH THE CUSTOMER he said : HE SAID SO SIGN ME IN CAUSE I KICK YOU OUT . what a rude person he is wearing black he is slim and called ANTONIO, I need you to fire him we spent around 120$ and we kept our food there cause he fired us if he will not get fired it will not end here with him and with MacDonald how they treated people like us rudely how they chose their employee that before any excellent customer service have to check HUMAN RIGHTS FIRST OF ALL, i hope a qualified person can read my review and give me fast revenge from that person who destroy my evening and get all my...

They forgot a whole McChicken burger. And because this has happened to me before, and when I said something the manager refused to help me saying I probably stole it and just wanted another one, I didn’t even go back to ask them to fix it. Terrible. And the fries are always cold and soggy when I get home. (I live 2 minutes away) If you go to the McDonald’s in the USA they fill your fries until the fry box is over flowing. Some locations in Ottawa fill your fries right up or go beyond that. This location only fills u your fries to 3/4 of the way even though they make such a great amount of money.

If you are the owner and you see this just know that I only go to the Merivale road location now because I know I won’t be missing anything and my fries get filled up. The other McDonald’s on Fallowfield will mess up my order 7/10 times so I refuse to go there as well. What’s going on? What happened? You need security cameras so that if something goes missing you can see if it was actually put in the bag or not if we don’t receive an order. It’s technically stealing if we pay for something and don’t receive it.

Update: September 3 2024 This is what’s been happening on a regular basis. I order a large fry and this is how much they load it. I usually go to the McDonald’s in Vaudreuil Dorian and they stuff the box with fries. I didn’t realize it was so bad until I started going to other McDonald’s and got the same “stuffed” service. If you notice your fries half full take a video or picture right when I buy them and then go inside. I’m home now and can’t really do that as they would assume I ate some.
