I love the Ottawa Bagel Shop (OBS) for their Domestic and International products.
It is a place that I can pick up Stilton (semi-soft crumbled blue cheese from England), Meteorite (triple cream brie cheese with blue viens from Québec) and Devil's Rock (creamy blue cheese from Ontario).
I enjoy shopping here because I can get a lot of products from the UK.
The bagels are perfect with their in house Flavoured Cream cheeses and high end Smoked Salmon.
The current owner of St. Viateur Bagel (from Montréal and also a family relation) helped the owners of the OBS to be the first to bring Montréal Styled Bagels to Ottawa.
The Seed to Sausage brand Molasses Pepper Bacon is a treat, as it is a little more expensive and is naturally smoked with no artificial flavours.
Brubacher brand Bacon contains no antibiotics and is hormone free.
The Potato or Mushroom Knish are both favourites. We have even bought frozen Potato Knishes to bake at home.
The Latkes (potato pancakes) are also delicious.
I like purchasing their Spicy Red Pepper Jelly or one of their Fruit Chutneys to pour over cream cheese (served with crackers) for a quick no fuss appetizer.
It is convenient that the OBS stocks Rideau Bakery and Artisan Breads.
We have enjoyed sampling their sandwiches, at a catering event, and they are all delicious.
The OBS is currently renovating and I am relieved that I can still come in and get almost all of my favourites.
I can hardly wait to see the new place and glad that I can continue shopping until the renovations are completed.
Update:
I love the new space! It is well organized and easier to find everything. The new eating area is brighter and more welcoming.
Rideau Bakery bread is no longer available here because it is a Farm Boy exclusive.
This gave us a chance to try something different...their Everything Bagel! Wow, that bagel packs a whopping punch of flavour. This is now our go to bagel if they have sold out of the Poppy Seed Bagels.
I love that we can buy Smoked Sturgeon again! We really enjoy the flavoured Goat Cheeses in the plastic flip top containers. And they also sell pre-packaged Latkes and Cabbage Rolls to take home.
The coffee is excellent here. We look forward to eating in the new space. We have not had the opportunity yet because we missed the window when the sandwiches were being made. Hopefully, they will be able to increase the hours in the future. We ended up snacking on some pepperettes (mild, medium or hot) that held us over until we...

Kettlemans is so much better for customer service! They repeat your order when they give it to you. I ordered the cinnamin raisin bagel. The Store Manager brought it out and repeated my ordered.
I had already started the day on an ill foot with Chesterfield Gastro pub and was close to fainting. My surprised when I opened the bag to see a sesame bagel. The Bagel shop's response from the Store Manager was everyone makes mistakes. No apology for the fact that I had to drive back. How can we make this right? It is even worse that this mistake was a result of the Store Manager not checking my order.
I grew up in Ottawa and went to the Bagelshop many times during my highschool years.
Disheartened by this experience. It makes me all the more thankful for a Kettleman's in Etobicoke. They served me an undercook BLT, apologized and said the next time I'm in, they'll make me a new one. I didn't redeem it. However, the gesture was sincere. And I've been back to Kettleman's many times before and after.
Kettlemans thank you for having an Etobicoke location and when there is a mistake,...

My girlfriend works nearby and was nice enough to pick up a bagel for me a couple months ago. It was really, really good. The bagel was really nicely spiced and the dill cream cheese was really good. We both agreed that bagels from Ottawa Bagelshop were really good.
So skip forward to this week, she's nice enough to pick up 8 more bagels on her way home from work to have over the next few days. When she gets home we open up the bag and realize that each bagel is about half the mass that they used to be. Skinny thin dough loops with centers the size of a coffee mug.
The spices were on-point, but after it was toasted the bagel really just tasted like a bread stick because it was too thin to leave the center fluffy. It was just alright.
So a 5-star bagel the first time and 8 2-star bagels, I'm going to have to go with 3-stars, I guess. May try again, but honestly pretty turned off considering the price we paid for these.
UPDATE
The owner Liliana was kind enough to reach out and offer to fix the problem. The replacement bagels we were given were exactly as expected and comparative to those I had before the above issue - delicious. Really happy to see that some business owners actually try to fix...
