I wish I could give this place a higher rating as the other two locations for sansotei here in Ottawa I’ve absolutely adored. Unfortunately this restaurant has been awful. Their broth and ramen has a thick layer of grease/oil on it that is so thick it’s visible in your food, and it’s an excessive amount of oil that forms a separate layer above the broth. When I called in to ask about it as I hadn’t gotten food with such low quality from the other two locations, the person who answered the phone was rude and short with me despite me asking very politely as I didn’t want to start a fight with someone who’s fault it wasn’t. Beyond that, I decided to eat it anyways as sansotei is expensive and used to be my comfort food. Once again I was disappointed as I have been ill with food poisoning thanks to them. The Merivale and downtown Ottawa locations for sansotei are some of the most lovely restaurants I’ve been in, the kanata one is managed and run by people who cannot and should not run a restaurant. If you’re going to spend the money on sansotei, go the extra distance and get it from somewhere else. Thanks for the...

Service, below fair. Not attentive. Slow. Forgetful. Low effort. No smiles.

Atmosphere worse with the very loud K-pop music and the restaurant's food app constantly digging at the highest of volumes every 3 seconds. Acoustics, not great.

Seating not the most comfortable. Tables are tiny. Not a lot of room.

The food.. the fried chicken appy is a must.. perfect fried and golden, come out nice and hot. Gyoza with garlic and onion, good. Would get plain gyoza if I came back here. I love onion but it was a crazy amount. I kept most on the side for my ramen. Ramen.. not a lot of choice. I settled for the popular Black Shin which just means black garlic was added to the Shin. I brought my own cayenne pepper which is good as they kept forgetting to bring the chili oil. I never got it. Had to ask many times for soy sauce, cane at the end of the meal. The noodles themselves were good. I brought my leftover broth home, I never waste a drop!

Maybe an ok place for take out but I would think twice about being...

I've been to both the Bank Street and Merivale locations many, many times and have been very satisfied. With my first visit to the Kanata location went like this: Great food, not so great customer service.

We got a seat very quickly and they took our food order pretty much right away, but walked away as we went to order our drinks. Food was served quickly, but dropped off so fast we couldn't give them our drink order. It was busy, but not packed, so watching the servers all joke around behind he counter, laughing, joking around and hugging each other while ignoring their tables was quite irritating. Eventually another server (not ours) realized I was getting annoyed and took over the table, and his service was amazing.

Overall the experience was weird, it was a hurry up and get the food out as soon as possible to turn over the table, but then completely ignore it. If that same server that helped us out at the end is there, I would go again... otherwise I'll take the longer drive to the two...

Soft open The place is able to seat approximately 30 people. Washrooms are still clean. Atmosphere: modern, place is still clean and new. Ordered: Zangi fried chicken, Spicy Tantan, Tonkotsu, and Tonkotsu+. Total Price: $58 without tax, $65.55 with tax Appetizer was well fried crispy with juicy center. Overall Ramen was good same, almost the same level as the Merivale location. Have been waiting for it to open in Kanata for a while. I am glad Kanata is getting more diverse food. Will be back! Things that can be improved: Greeting and leaving - It is harder to hear them. This could be due to multiple reasons such as a larger space, louder music, the kitchen is father back and the Merivale location is up front. Ajitsuke Tamago (Ajitama) - Maybe it was the one I got it wasn't as flavorful. It could have used a little longer in the marinade to add more flavor.

I am a fan of another Sansotei location. I can’t wait to try this one with my family when we knew it is open. The Ramen was OK. Soup was very oily. The service was very disappointing. Ramen ready 15min after order, which is a bit long for a franchise ramen restaurant. The waitress didn’t put the tray of ramen bowls correctly on the table so she almost dropped a bowl to the floor. My 9 year old son was a bit slow on his bowl. The waitress saw me and my wife finished, came to us and asked if we wanted the bill and to pack the ramen, when my son was literally still eating. I know the place is busy but you can’t ask to pack it because kids eating slow. If you want people to spend less time on table, you should just try to serve the food faster instead. I hope it will become better in the future but currently it doesn’t seem a nice place for family dining.

We got their Tomato Ramen and Miso Black Ramen. They were both just okay, the tomato one tasted a bit like canned tomato soup. It tasted better though, when I added a bunch of chili (togarashi?) flakes and chili oil, which seemed to bring down the overwhelming sweetness a bit. The Hokkaido scallop in it was really good! The eggs were cold in both ramen, but dunked into the very hot broth, it was somewhat fine. Our server was welcoming and attentive. Gave us good recommendations when we asked. Overall the experience was good, so I think we'll mainly come back for the original Tonkotsu Ramen, and their Zangi which was served piping hot + fresh and tasted really good!
