To be fair this shawarma palace ranks number 2 on my list. Downtown just had something about it.... Shawarma palace on Bank is amazing. The lineup out the door is a staple of Shawarma Palace as they are simply put the best. I say this in that they are what Shawarma should be, the food of the people. With heaping portions and garlic in everything you are always greeted and treated as a friend, the heartfelt smile and care is amazing.
Shawarma Palace on Bank boasts a great dining room with comfortable seating and lots of space centered around a fireplace. The place looks nice and is comfortable with ample free parking.
The food is authentic, from the falafels to the toum the flavors are incredible and combine to make something more than the sum of their parts.
I'm through and through a beef shawarma platter person. But be warned it's not for the feint of heart out those with light appetites. The players could easily feed a family of four and I've seen that though more often a couple sharing it. While many know and love the chicken shawarma, seriously, try the beef. The success and marinade come together with the cooking process to make something so flavorful and with such great texture it's really a crime not to try it.
Everytime I come to Ottawa I hit up at least one Shawarma Palace. It's worth the trip everytime.
If you are getting the platter ( I recommend just potatoes, the rice unless you're sharing is just too filling) grab a drink like a coke to help clense the palate. Trust me you want something like that. It'll...
Read moreUnfortunately, very disappointed with my meal today. I dined-in around 3:15 p.m. I'm a pregnant woman and was feeling hungry and thought why not Shawarma Palace as I've been there before and food was pretty decent. I was looking for a clean homelike meal instead of fast food. I got the chicken platter, staff did not cut the chicken infront of me but instead gave me chicken that was precut in the pan. I understand the need to do that during rush hour but I was the only customer in line so why the precut? Perhaps to get rid of the old chicken and give to an unfortunate customer that paid over $24.00. I was given a mix - a lot of old (reheated) dry chicken with extremely dry dark meat chicken that has old greyish marks due to overheating and not fresh but old and a bit of fresh tender white breast. They mix old with fresh to not have waste but unfortunately, the customers pay the price. I did not end up eating much as I'm pregnant and did not want to get sick or feed my baby something that is clearly not good. I'm sorry to say - I will not be returning as too many disappointments and uncertainties of the quality of food that will be served.
Please note: I've ordered Ubereats in the past and ordered chicken brochette as they grill it fresh but even that - I've received burnt chicken. Called and spoke to the cashier that never apologized and gave me the following reply: "mention in your order that you don't want well done chicken" I was blown away by...
Read moreStopped here on the way to Cineplex some friends and enjoyed it! This was the first time I’ve been in person, but I’ve ordered from here many times for delivery.
The building is BIG. Like, this is a large restaurant. It has an absolute ton of tables and chairs, however, not all are available due to the pandemic. Still, they do have limited dine-in. It’s a really nice looking place on the inside! It was ALSO a very, very busy place.
You get to choose what’s on your shawarma, which is nice. The guy who served me was even willing to put on extra onions which was great. I found the serving sizes to be pretty big, and the price was good! For Ottawa, it’s definitely cheaper than a lot of restaurants. Their drink options are pretty simple, though they do have coffee (which I didn’t order). But they have a ton of food options.
I got the chicken shawarma sandwich and a regular tabouleh salad, and both were sooo good. The guy serving me gave me a TON of tabouleh for the “regular” size, and it was pleasantly lemon-y. The sandwich wasn’t massive, but for ~$6 it was a good size (and delicious). My girlfriend got the regular chicken shawarma poutine, and that was hella good. Also a huge serving size for relatively cheap!
All in all, I’d stop by here again if l’m in the area. All the staff were wearing masks, and I felt pretty safe here pandemic-wise. It was pretty cheap which was great for my college budget. And the food...
