Went to the South Keys Cineplex theater to watch The Black Phone 2 with a friend, as it was the closest theater to me and was most convenient. I was looking forward to watching this movie for months, but our experience quickly turned sour. There was a massive amount of free seats and it was a 7 PM showing so I assumed it was going to be a quiet, fun, entertaining watch with my friend. However, about 15 minutes into the movie, two kids around 11 years old who shouldnât have been allowed to watch the movie to begin with, were starting to become disruptive. They most likely snuck in because of the new ticket system, where Cineplex is no longer selling tickets at the counter and regulating who enters what movie, but is instead forcing customers to buy their tickets at the kiosks.
The two kids were initially seated to the far right of the theater, and kept turning on their phones. Someone had asked for them to turn off their phone twice, and the kids replied extremely rudely, saying âWhatâre you going to do about it?â. They then moved to sit directly behind me and my friend, and proceeded to make noise in an attempt to be disruptive. I asked them to be quiet, and turned back to the movie. They then proceeded to play music on their phones, and I turned around and told them to turn their phones off. I heard one of the kids tell the other to turn it down, and I responded âDonât turn it down, turn it off!â. They of course did not listen, and so I left the screening room in search of an employee to complain and possibly have them removed. There wasnât a single employee to be found anywhere, I knocked on a few staff doors and called out but the place was totally empty.
The rest of the movie was completely wasted because the kids wouldnât be quiet. After we left the screening room, my friend and I spent a good ten minutes walking around trying to find an employee, as the entire theater seemingly completely empty. We finally came across a manager and explained our situation. She said they couldnât give us a refund as they were closing, but that they could give us both free passes to another movie. I asked if I could get a refund the next day, and she said it may be too late and they would just offer a free pass the next day. As we were waiting for the pass, other movie-goers walked up to us waiting to put in the same complaint.
This is nothing against the manager, as she tried being as accommodating as possible and seemed to be having screen projection issues she was busy with. Thereâs been a growing issue with disruptive people at the movies. Itâs frustrating enough with Cineplex changing their systems and making it exponentially easier for kids to sneak into movies they shouldnât be watching, but to also not be able to find any employees that can ask them to leave is unacceptable. Iâve never had such a terrible experience at the movies like this before. Next time Iâm just going to make the journey over to the Landsdowne or...
Read moreBro, serious bro, Fast Five was sick guy. Go for the action, stay for the acting! Bro it had me on my seat thinking "Yo, this guy's for real? That's sick" the whole time. I was like, "Yo, I should come back on Tuesday and bring a fly mint looking chick like in the movie". Oh yeah, the girls are mint. Serious bro. The cars are sick and the girls are mint. I ain't gonna lie to you. I've seen a bunch of movies so I know, right? And this movie is going to win a bunch of sweet awards for being the most mint and having the best movie for bros and their chicks to go see. And the chicks will win all the awards for best mint looking actresses, for real dawg. It's sick. I'd rate the mint chicks and sick cars five stars out of five and the acting was probably about five stars out of five too bro.The story was sick too bro so I'd rate it five stars out of five and I don't want to spoil the ending because it was so sick, but I'd rate the ending five stars out of five too bro for being so sick. So you should go check it out and if you haven't seen any of the other Fast and Furious movies, you should go check them out because they're sick and they're also really good with their acting and cars and chicks...
Read moreThe Manager, Jason B., at SiverCity Ottawa offered up some of the slimiest customer service I have ever experienced! Lost a see-through thermos I had bought for my young daughter, used specifically for tap water-darned thing worth $20+. I called for the manager when staff couldn't locate it after it had been left for a few minutes in an empty theatre where staff were cleaning up, and within seconds he darted straight to...well, another customer must have stolen it. Well no, thievery is not the most plausible scenario here...clearly the staff had thrown it out. I just wanted him to offer to take my name and number and call me if it turned up, but his managerial skills are clearly on the 'defensive' rather than the helpful, customer-friendly side. He didn't want my name and number to maybe call me if it was found because he made it very clear that he would not assist in 'my problem.' He was unkind, unfriendly and certainly didn't care one bit about being helpful. The guy must resent his customers because he most definitely seems to be quite over taking any pride in his work. How...
