Nice place with friendly helpful staff. We stopped for breakfast on the way out of town and picked stans as is looked like a family owned diner and gave the impression of that homecooked by ma or pa vibe. Theres a couple other chains or bougie looking places nearby as well but I like to buy local and such if I can and they had good enough reviews. Pros: were meal was ready quick and portions were great. Homemade homefries with a lil crust on em, perfect. Eggs were actually a good size on my benny and the extra I ordered almost weren't necessary as I'm used to restaurants using quail size eggs so big thumbs up there. Staff was friendly and efficient. Cons: unfortunately as good as it looked sizeswise, it lacked in seasoning or flavor. Everything was a lil bland for my taste with nothing on the potatoes, a nicely made hollandaise, smooth... but think they forgot lemon or a lil salt or something. The eggs and bacon, the bacon of all things, bland as well. Not sure how bacon can be bland but imo a simple switch or talk with their meat suppliers would make all the difference in the world as everything was cooked well. Just lacked in quality ingredients I feel. I only ordered a side of bacon as the ham on my benny had a weird taste to it. Only thing seasoned enough and it was not a good blend by the hamm ppl. Anyways son said pancakes were good and he smothered his fries in ketchup so he was happy. I kinda wished we went to the bougie looking one. With my extra side of bacon and 2 juices which were bottled and 15% tip regardless of the food it ended up costing about the same as the expensive...

2015 August: For 12 years we have been going to Stan's Diner every two weeks for breakfast and sometimes lunch. The service, staff and overall value were super. Our usual server, Lise, knew how we liked things (I have a dairy allergy) and was picking up the apple juice in a bottle on the way to the table to get our order! Ownership changed 5 or 6 years ago however most things remained great including the staff. Recently, as in this summer, the owners decided to get rid of the fabulous staff that have worked there for more than a decade and do everything themselves. Bad decision! We have been there once for breakfast since and will not be going back. The parking lot was almost empty which says it all - it used to be packed. Food was unattractive on the plate and service bad. Service was always bad when the owner decided to...

First time trying Stan’s diner. In one sentence it was very mid. Nothing crazy just average. The prices are pretty reasonable for what you get. The potato’s were soft inside and crispy on outside. Seasoned salt/paprika would go such a long way however - there was no seasoning on them. The bologna was great. Eggs were real eggs and not premix type style eggs. Sausage was average. The bacon however was horrible. Not a fan at all. The toast was average. Service was great. Not a lot of money has been put into up-keeping decor and cleanliness did not seem top of mind. Just don’t look too closely really. The washroom was a ā€œmanā€ s kind of washroom - does the trick but just don’t look too hard. Stan’s does ok in a pinch and for what’s around it’s the best option. But in all of Ottawa this is not at the top of...

Greasy spoon breakfast type place. We went before COVID times and we had a younger man serve us. He was amazing. The potatoes were amazing. Fried potatoes not deep-fried. Homestyle with no onions (yay!) - that was a 5 star greasy spoon experience. But, we went recently and the waitress was not the friendliest, but maybe she was having a terrible day. And unfortunately the potatoes were a little burnt compared to all the amazing times before Covid. Not sure what has happened but it definitely could use a refresh/update, and the food isn’t as great as it once was. Or maybe it was an off day. I would try it one more time to see if these changes are the new standard for them or if the staff and food were having a bad day. Lots of parking though!

Customer: "Waiter, do you serve crabs?" Waiter: "Please sit down sir, we serve everyone." 🤣 It took 2 years for the loud biker gang to leave so we are back having breakfast at the Stan’s. We found everything the same, furniture, cutlery and even the menus. Old and faded… I ordered Eggs Benedict because you can never get them at home (like the BJ’s) I will never do that again because the eggs were over done, hard not runny and the sauce Hollandaise was very bad, with a pungent taste of some unknown spice ? It is a shame that the good family run greasy diners are out of business and the bad ones are still floating around, probably because of the cheap and bad quality food that they serve. 😢
