Stella Luna Gelato Cafe — Restaurant in Ottawa

An absolutely wonderful place with amazing atmosphere and decor! Such amazing selection of teas and items to buy as you walk in. An amazing selection of sandwiches and baked goods. Lots of gelato flavor options to choose from. They have lots of vegan options as well! When I walked in I was immediately greeted by the friendly staff and I felt like I was a member of their family walking into my their home at Christmas! The staff there was so friendly and helpful, in particularly Zack. He was very kind and informative and knowledgeable and super patient with my young son who had a hard time making up his mind. I absolutely can't wait to go back there again! Their prices are reasonable I would have paid twice as much for the delicious gelato I had, it would have been worth it! Highly recommend to anyone and everyone no matter the time of year or day of the week just go! Next time I go back I'll take some pictures but my gelato did not last long enough to take pictures because it was simply too delicious! I got the vegan chocolate sorbet and I do not like chocolate at all and it was my absolute favourite flavor! Which will just tell you how delicious it actually is! Love this place so much. My partner and I stop here usually a few times a summer as we walk The Glebe. The Gelato is absolutely FANTASTIC. Super thick and decadent and the flavors just explode in your mouth. The sorbet is amazing as well. I had the cherry sorbet with chocolate and vanilla gelato and it was an incredible combination.

Also love their Italian sodas. They’re just premium sparkling water mixed with the delicious Monin syrups (which we buy there too because the price is fantastic). The sofas are a simple treat but the perfect complement to the decadent gelato.

The staff are super sweet and accommodating, even when they’re swamped. When we went, they ran out of CO2 for the soda machine which was unfortunate, but it happens. The server came to our table to apologize and offered us ANY other drink on the menu free of charge to compensate. EXCEPTIONAL service. We all got iced coffees and we loved them. It’s a great establishment. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, they’ve got everything you need. Also they have a great selection of Monin, Vodkow and other artisanal products for sale as well. Location: Somewhere in Ottawa. Street parking available but double-check the zoning for hours, and possible fares.

The place: It's a fairly good size, with seating at the front and back of the shop. I'd say the decor is a bit dated but it's not like I was planning to spend my day there so whatever.

The goods: I tried the gelato because I was only looking for a quick snack. My choices were Ferrero and peanut butter cheesecake. The gelato was good. It didn't blow me away but to be fair, my reference point is Italian gelato, i.e. the kind I had while in Italy. I don't think it's humanly possible to beat that. In any case, it was alright. My friend ordered a crêpe but they made a mistake and brought her a waffle. It was pretty huge, and she seemed to enjoy it. Not knowing Ottawa, it's hard for me to say if there's a better place for gelato in town. This is a solid choice.

Service: OK.
