From start to finish, every bite we had to eat here was excellent and the service was top-tier too, very friendly and attentive. We loved the “make your own” charcuterie board that lets you select your preferred meats, cheeses and accompaniments (which were all wonderful). We followed up with our mains (Cornish hen and cavatelli) which were both perfectly cooked and so flavourful. And finally, we couldn’t go to Dessert First and not get dessert. But we were so full we grabbed a couple cake slices to go (strawberry and lemon-coconut) and couldn’t have been happier when we ate them in our hotel room. A sponge that tastes like home, delicious fillings and a buttercream that has just the right amount of sweetness. We will definitely visit again next time we’re in town.

Dessert First has a really cute atmosphere, but the space is packed with tables, which makes it feel a little crowded. The menu itself is impressive with lots of tempting options, but my experience fell flat. My latte came out lukewarm and almost flavorless, and the server admitted she had forgotten about us—then asked again if we wanted drinks. She mentioned they had already been keyed in, which made it clear they’d just been sitting there. My croissant was okay, nothing special. I do plan on coming back to try their happy hour since the menu does have potential, and I’ll happily update this review if the experience improves. For now, though, it just didn’t stand out.

An absolute treat for the senses! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that perfectly sets the stage for an indulgent experience. We arrived a little early for our reservation so we had time to look over the desserts and choose which ones to take home, we chose the tiramisu and the kitkat cake. The service was impeccable, with a team that clearly takes pride in creating a memorable experience. They were attentive, friendly, and really cared about our experience. We went for brunch, ordered the croque madame, the avocado toast AND the apple crumble crisp pancakes, they were made to perfection. Highly recommend!

Very disappointing experience. I requested: Custom layered cake with photo attached Custom Icing - Cream Cheese Carrot Cake I was told to place an order and they would customize to the above no problem. What I received was not what I ordered. Custom - one tiered cake - I accept I used the wrong terminology and what I wanted was a 2 tiered cake, however I also sent a photo of a 2 tiered cake and nothing was said that it wasn’t what they could do I received a cake with butter icing and cream cheese inside Cake quality- dry like it was baked weeks before Customer Service- When I asked for resolution and finally a refund when they blamed me and did not take ownership of the mistakes : they told me to stop harassing them and they couldn’t provide a solution .

Terrible experience and I was left with a cake we couldn’t eat for my 60th birthday that the restaurant threw out. When asked for some type of credit I was made to feel horrible about requesting some type of refund for a cake that was not what I ordered.

I wouldn’t even give...

Great food. Came with some friends and the service was off putting and unprofessional .I was waiting in line to order, made eye contact, and instead of taking my order, the “manager” walked over to the other waitress with her back faced towards me and told her “they’re blocking the kitchen they need to be moved” so I inserted my self into the conversation saying “would you like us to move?” She says no and then mumbles a bit saying they need to organize some things first. I told her to let us know whenever she’d like us to move and we will. No response. Her demeanor was not the kindest. At least take my order before talking about me.

The same exact scenario happened again in regard to the kitchen closing. The “manager” communicating to the other waitress (again hovering like we are not supposed to hear) that she informed us the kitchen is closed and something else that I couldn’t make out. It’s kind of rude and unnecessary, that can be communicated to her HAD we tried to order something from the menu and insisted on it

We kicked off my husband's birthday with a lovely brunch here for the family. (Even though we live in the neighbourhood, we'd never tried it before, thinking it was just a coffee/bakery place. However, it's got an extensive savoury menu and even offers dinner and drinks some nights.) We ordered the avocado toast, a breakfast sandwich, the "big" breakfast, the special of the day (pulled pork on a croissant), and a "classic small" breakfast (swapping out the meat for the baked beans). Everything was spectacular, and we were all raving about our choices. The baked beans were particularly tasty and worth the trip on their own - layered flavours of sweet, tangy, and autumnal spices. All the elements of each dish were thoughtfully prepared from scratch. The service was friendly and the space is elegant with a touch of whimsy. We'll be back soon - possibly for dinner and drinks, followed by a movie at the Mayfair Theatre...
