Ten Fish — Restaurant in Ottawa

I've had a LOT of ottawa sushi, so I'm coming from a base of experience here and I'll start with the positives and end on the negatives.

I have to say, in the end, it's better than your mega chain choices of sushi kan/168 sushi as far as CHOICES go, they have a very creative menu and if you are vegan or averse-to-raw they've got a delightfully long list of cooked and/or vegan rolls to choose from. They score bonus points for calling me back to confirm my GF requirements as well as providing real Wasabi and real pickled ginger (I imagine it's pickled in house; its still a ginger colour and not hot pink).

But the actual taste of the fish and the rice leaves a little bit to be desired, and of all the new creative rolls I got to try, honestly I still enjoyed my avocado and cucumber roll the best. So if you want to try something really new with sushi, they probably have it, but don't expect to be wowed by the quality. If they used better ingredients, this could easily be one of the top places in Ottawa.

UPDATE: upon reading the response from the management, I’m additional disappointed at the lack of constructive customer response. I take ownership for not requesting the chop sticks but the justification for bad food is simply not acceptable. I have had a lot of sushi in my life and this was not good quality, well made nor worth the price. Also, I would ask that the restaurant refrain from making assumptions on how long it takes for a person to feel ill after consuming their food. Perhaps the restaurant has great food on a regular basis but this was certainly a miss.

We LOVED Ten Fish when we order from them the first time. It was absolutely delicious, but we were missing items and it was well past the estimated delivery time (food was still being prepped at the time it was to be delivered). We decided to give them another chance as mistakes happen, and the second time was great. Third time, however, we were extremely displeased. My boyfriend is vegan and ordered strictly from the vegan options. His rolls arrived with fish eggs all over them. Due to my allergies, the rolls needed to be discarded. It was sad to put all that food into the trash. In total, 2 full rolls were thrown out. Thankfully DoorDash refunded the $20 for two rolls.
